Screamer ADSL

I had a fairly productive weekend, speeds weren't too bad, though I will had a few moments of rapid page refreshes. Apart from that things are looking good, Have my BitTorrent client on a schedule for when I hit the sack (ensuring I only have one active download, and at most 2 uploads), managed to get 1.2GB yesterday, which I'm okay with.

Still look forward to them resolving the issue in the next few weeks. I would however like the latency issue to international resolved asap as it renders any gaming impossible. Does anyone have suggestions as to how I might setup my Wii to use the screamer connection with less latency?

Speeds have been wobbly this month, but at least there has not been so much down time as in Feb. Looks like the guys are still working on improving it for us :) I have moved a fair amount of data in the last 8 days.... But looks like todays speeds suck....

EDIT: Speeds looking better again...

priority support

Hi,

Please send an E-Mail to [email protected] and we will provide the support answers required. It may not be what you want to hear some of the times but we can support you easier and save some frustrations you may be experiencing.

Please include as much detail as you can ie; U-torrents, Rapid Share, normal browsing and which sites would also assist us etc.. And your user name!

We will then post general related issues on the forum where applicable to multple users, and/or respond directly to indivual issues.

think this will be my last month with screamer, south africa cannot do an affordable uncapped offering as yet, too much demand too little supply sainet will probably end up the same digichilli pops into mind as a case study, was great during the trial and when they went live the users just raped the network and the isp was overwhelmed and still is having trauma counselling, screamer is the same and SAOL was great but also starting to see the same type of complaints there?

just go afrihost and use what you pay for, uncapped is a dream in this country that is far from being truely realised!

@IRG
what programme do you use for your usage stats? also does it give you the stats for the pc its installed on or is it for the whole network?

@ Looney use DuMeter 4.01... live stats on pop up window.. give up live stats, daily, weekly and month reports... brilliant program.. wont use anything else

Hey All,

I mentioned in my first post on this forum and topic, that i would post what screamer support reply, as someone mentioned before they doubt they will, that poster was right.
Ive contacted sales division who helped as far as they could and made contact with john in support who's yet to respond. ive also PM's SP and no reply.

To Looney, i use net limiter, it shows you stats daily weekly monthly, per application and the computer as a whole, has in and out graphs and bandwidth speed.

You are probably right. BUT if all of us that have R400 or more to spend on internet, vote with our wallets and only use uncapped services, even if we have to switch ISP's once a month to keep getting good service, it will fix the problem. All the big ISP's will realize that they have to have an affordable uncapped option if they want to make money. We have the power!

Adrenalin did you register with sainet for a data only or data + line rental as well?

Data only.

Giving me a "username password" error now

Another guy on the SAINET forum says that he logged an incident with them because his a/c was disabled, the response he got?

"Your line is running at 4mband that constitutes abuse because you singed up for the 384k option."

What bs is that?!

How did you do that? it says data only is available only from 1st june?
take a look at this shocker from sceamer: http://www.speedtest.net/result/742197457.png

So what they are saying is that if your line is registered with telkom at e.g. 512k, and you signup for a 384k data only account, your account will be disabled for abuse...wtf??

That's exactly what they are saying. I am on Screamer again, because they STILL have not cancelled my a/c. Which i fear is a bad thing. good grief how long does it take to cancel an a/c withthese okes? Anyway, jusy called SAINET now, according to their data received by Telkom, I have a 4mb line.

I do so wish i had a 4mb line but unfortunately i honestly don't. So not to sure where SAINET is getting their info from, she is going to send me the email though.

Well, this is one thing that Screamer has done correctly. My line syncs at 4 Mbps, but my line speed doesn't exceed 46 kB/s when I am using Screamer (should go to 48, but I am not going to complain). So they are definitely throttling you to your package.

It is the responsibility of the ISP to manage this, not the customer. Otherwise, how will they handle things if Telkom arbitrarily decides to can 384 lines? Cancel the package offering, or increase the fees? With proper shaping by the ISP you can still offer such a package, no matter what Telkom does.

My speeds are decent today, at least. Let's see if it lasts.

This morning their IP Connect link was down. Let's hope this is a positive sign regarding a move to the new data centre they talked about.

I spoke to support this morning, they are having a few issues at the moment, but they are hoping to have everything 100% when they finish the move to the new centre.

Netlimiter 2 Pro (works on Vista & XP) is what I use on my 512, measures PC only.

Netlimiter 3 for win 7 is just out, I have not got the full version, only beta, theres no stats on the beta.
