not from where I am sitting.

I connected about 15 minutes and access my nntp server - and then it dropped dead.

Thereafter, connected again - but nothing happening - nntp, web sites.

yes.the same story by me.it connected, than i went out.Now back tol telkom account.

*Sigh* lemme guess, 2pm and they all went on holiday, and we're stuck with no internet till monday , right?

Phones not working. Voicemail full. No one on email. No one manning their online ticket system. I've had this with DigiChilli , wtf can't anyone freaking get their support sorted out? FFS.

At least 31 Dec when i had connectivity, it was great.

They do say "Weekends: 08h00 to 14h00", so I guess someone should be there tomorrow and/or Sunday. I'll try again then.

Yea, i'm being skeptic, in all my life in the IT industry, if a company "shuts down" like this without leaving a skeleton/support crew, they rarely solve the actual problem during the weekend. They might have some useless helpdesk person taking your call tomorrow and telling you "we have a problem, yes", but that's as much support as you get.

Technical support hours should not be limited to the same hours as "Office Hours". Sales/Account/Finance sure, but geez if your entire service goes down and you don't even have ONE person to answer a call, how on earth does the ENGINEERs know there is a problem? Doesn't help that howzit up there posted "it's been fixed" exactly at 2pm when i assume everyone there clocked out.

Still pretty pathetic, how can you let your main service go down for 16 hours [and running] and not provide feedback/support ?

Is anyone actually connecting to Screamer's service [ADSL/Wimax] at all at this stage? Is it ADSL only? Is it maybe just a bunch of newly activated accounts [like mine?] .

Guys our problem was sorted out ages ago.

If you are still not connecting please PM me your account no.

internet was down this morning. tried getting through to Screamer technical support to find out why the internet was down and why it was running slow last night. All i get is an automated response telling me that the mailbox is full and can't take any more messages.
Their customer services are pathetic and they really need to do something about their call centre.
i am considering going back with Telkom or Afrihost as they are more reputable and their customer services are much better

howzit,

well done.

everything is working my side again... :D

Damn, going from DigiChilli toScreamer is lie going from 0-100 in 2.3 seconds in a Bugatti Veyron or something.

How is steam on screamer?

I'm primarily downloading from steam, works great. I'm getting 35 kBytes/sec average , i'm on the 384 line package . So that is about max my line speed.

Can't comment on the gaming side of Steam yet.

Does anyone know when Screamer will stop Nat'ing the IP's?

First they said it will be fixed 1 week after they launched, then they said within 2 weeks and now end of December........

2010 has arrived and after scanning through this thread, it seems that this has still not been changed.

Hi

Because of the large volume of ADSL clients we service we need a large IP pool and this is being delayed. I am hoping that this will have been issued in the next few weeks but still no definite timeline because we are waiting for them from Afrinik?

Thanks, Someone threw the switch again.... It's baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaackkkkkkk :}}}}

Building in some redundancy

Dear Howzit,

I was hoping that you can answer a question, I have been a customer since you launched the ADSL uncapped service. During this time there has been it's ups and downs and lately it is more up than down (for me personally) and I'm making full use of the service provided which I am grateful for as I recently returned from the UK and it was horrible to return to being capped.

But every once again since major issues was resolved there is a moments that systems went down, upstream provider, lightning hit a router and I don't know what the last one was for over NYE. What it seems like that although there are events that happened that was out of your control is it not obvious that there seems to be a lot of single point of failures on your network causing this outages? Don't you think that as there seems to be a large amount of subscribers already paying there monthly bills that it is not of the upmost importance to ensure 99% uptime for internet provision?

I can only comment on services provided via ADSL and I don't know if your matured WIMAX network also suffered from any outages.

aekritzinger - I'm guessing that Screamer has a "best-effort" service, so don't expect 99% uptime...
