Screamer ADSL

after a few reloads this is the only webpage i can visit. everything else just times out.
im seriously starting to wonder if Screamer is run and operated by some nerd living out of his grandma's basement

I rebooted and for a moment my link was doing well.

A speedtest to London had a 0.37 Mbps on the downstream link, but it completely failed the upload test, so I don't have a result. Now the speedtest site doesn't even load for me any more.

browsing has increased slightly but it is still a little slow and there are still a few time outs....
anyone else's browsing speeds increased?

Agree with you there. Downloading is hitting close to 40 KB/s.
Browsing whilst better than a few hours ago, is still too slow for me. Posting this message is taking me ages.

Just signed up. So far I am not impressed as browsing speeds are ridiculously slow, but I will give it another few days to decide if is should stay or not.

So much for unshaped accounts... I call it false advertising...and I quote

No caps or thresholds
• No time restrictions or office-hours
throttling
• Fibre based international bandwidth
means lower latency

Then the best one is on their website on the home page about the top downloaders for the month, 70GB on a 384 line??? And then they still brag that they are the number one provider for uncapped broadband??? Is it an early April fools joke? :wtf:

How come none of us can even get past 500mb to 1GB per day which only get you 30GB for the month on a 384...MAX... this is false advertising!!!!

best uncapped service provider??? Balls man. This is all bs, i got 1Gb from 12-6 this morning with afrihost. It's such a pleasure kniwing when you come back to the pc, everything has a 100% next to it. SAinet is seriously looking much better. Might decide over the weekend if i ask for a refund from screamer because everything of theirs is a fail.

Hi,

Our upstream SP has had an issue with their International connectivity and have routed to a back up however the BGP is updating slowly. We will let you know as soon as all is operational.

Um, that was a sub-optimal response. ALL traffic is painfully slow. Everything. Using acronyms does not make your response any more officious. *** service, so solutions and still poor attitude.

Thought I'd never say this but wish I was back on DC ;) Even that is better than this, right now.

Sainet might be R100 more, and there's no fixed ip.... but at the same time... there isn't tons of complaints about the service... plus the line rental is included so in the end, it does work out cheaper... :-)

i dont even need the rental. The line is paid for by my company so i'd be paying r50 more.

OK - after weeks of frustration I finally cancelled my Screamer account. Going to upgrade my current Afrihost account to 10 gigs and live with that until this segment of the market calms down and it becomes clear who's service is genuine and who's is a fraud. Bye bye ;)

just as expected. Did they really expect that people will stand up for this type of service.

I am keeping my afrihost account - a 1G account though. Would it not be a better idea to have a smaller bundle - say 2G or 3G so that when their '2 for 1' special comes around you are better positioned to take advantage of it.
That is unless your 'burn' (no pun intended) rate would make you top up every day!!
