Screamer WiMax

Hey Borrels. They only allow 1 sat dish per block. We all share the dish and pay R60 per month for access to it. For the R60, the cable is run and dish maintained if damaged etc.

Is a really good deal for the company providing the service.

Tell them you work from home and if you can't get internet you can't pay your levies.

Clever plan. Problem is people in the complex use iburst for internet. Also, in the short term, i could get 512k adsl, however, because of distance from teh exchange, the telkom technician said i will never have a stable connection greater than 512. Need expansion possibilities...

Hey Howzit.

Now downloads running when those tests were taken
i even disabled automatic updates for my AV product and made sure windows updates was disabled.

The enginees are monitoring your connection this morning.

hmm they not going to get much :)
no pc connected to device...

ran a test tonight to neotels Bandwidth tester

Download Speed: 947 kbps (118.4 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 471 kbps (58.9 KB/sec transfer rate)

and then to speedtest.net to a server in France
http://www.speedtest.net/result/528873567.png

This was done at about 20:30 tonight.

Obvioulsy local will be quicker. but hmm connection to international a wee bit slow.
going to test with pc connected direct to IDU see what happens.

and here is when i am plugged into the IDU
http://www.speedtest.net/result/528875969.png ( test to France )

and this is local again tested to Neotel bandwidth tester

Download Speed: 969 kbps (121.1 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 482 kbps (60.3 KB/sec transfer rate)

Tested to Screamer network with laptop connected to IDU

Upalod : Your Speed 445.52 kbps
Download : Your Speed 1.59 Mbps

Noticed that your upstream is greater than your downstream when you do international tests.
This usually points towards congestion on your ISPs transit.

@Darksun
We have shuffled around some of the international bandwidth so please let me know if this has fixed your speed.

@ WOW gamers
We have been working with some of our WOW super gamers and with WOW themselves to try and fix some of the problems they are experiencing. Some of it is out of our hands as you can see on http://forums.wow-europe.com/thread.html?topicId=10222034158&sid=1 but they assure us they are upgrading their servers. If you see any changes for the bad or better please PM me so I can feed back to our engineers.

Awsome to hear will let you know during the course of the weekend.

So this morning I have been disconnected from the world :(

Obviously not an issue on my side... it seems to be somewhere on the route out to the world. I've tried the Screamer support line but the number just rings out..

Is anyone else experiencing this? I guess you'd probably not be able to respond if so.. unless like me you still have a 3G backup. No gaming for me until this is sorted.

10 hours of downtime so far, started at 00h13 last night. Looks like Neotel are as worthless as everyone thinks they are at providing any form of IP. This is actually f***ing ridiculous though, and the technical support at Screamer had the audacity to tell me it's "not their problem, it's their upstream".

I don't care if George Bush planned a nuclear assault on half the world, my lack of internet is YOUR problem and frankly I think every Screamer customer should be entitled to some kind of discount this month.

I called this morning and got the same reasons. I asked what time it would be working again and all I got was that their upstream provider is working on the problem.

Bit of a pain in the ass, was planning on getting some decent gaming in today.

lol bro , you're about to over aggro there ;p

trust me i know what you mean but it was working at 4am this morning (dont ask why i was up) and down again this morning.

on my hsdpa atm and it just reminds me how awesome my wimax is ;p lets face it , first real downtime since neotel screwed up last time ..

Still down.

People land submarine cables faster than Screamer/Neotel fix problems.

I thought Screamer had Telkom upstream as well to prevent this kind of crap?

Working now. I was up when it first went down at around 12:10, gave it 20 min and then went to bed.

Hopefully it stays up now.

Interesting. Maybe Howzit can give a route cause analysis or something? Was going to send in my app on Monday, but will keep it in the drawer for now.

Hi

We were trying to test a Seacom connection with Neotel this morning and some peanut disconnected our main link with them. It should have taken them 5 mins to reconnect it so we did not redirect our affected clients to our other bandwidth pipes but it took them from 09h30 to 11h30.

I apologise to the affected clients.

Thanks Howzit.

here are my latest Speedtests.

To Neotel
Download Speed: 959 kbps (119.9 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 474 kbps (59.3 KB/sec transfer rate)

To Screamer
Download : 984.2 kbps
Upload: 472.66 kbps

and then on speedtest.net
