What's the status on assigning public IPs btw?

You can get one but have to pay for it. I have one and it works well. Took a while for them to get it working, eventually they stuck my radio in bridge mode and allowed my router to do the PPPoE.

There is a price on the website which is a bit steep, have a chat to Howzit as if it's just for hosting the odd game here and there they may give you a better rate.

what download speeds are you getting?

I am on a point to point 2Mb link so I average about 200Kbps consistently from most sites.

Screamer do offer it and its not very expensive. its about R25 a month in my case.

I'll bet my hat Telkom are also billing for it......................somewhere

Out of the R240 a month? Sure it's only 512k but I get to use my ADSL bandwidth from Afrihost...

Maybe it's because their Wimax network terminates into their normal ADSL realms... so they already paid for it and only offering you the exact same service as they do with normal ADSL?

One other thing, if we are assigned a public IP do we still have to be subjected to the screamer proxy?

No, once you get a public IP you are automatically routed past our proxy

We are waiting for our upstream bandwidth providers to get their systems ready and then we will be allocating them generally. If you want one now they are available at R25 p/month.

Since other providers proved less stable and reliable than telkom?

How many times do I have to explain it, there's a difference between WUG's and WISPs.

Screamer = WISP. They sell internet access, they have commercial interests.
WUG = bunch of guys with cheap hardware doing the best that they can. with NO INTERNET ACCESS.

Really, its not _that_ hard to understand the difference. They're not even in the same league.

1) No one has been able to answer me regarding News servers.
Can I connect to SAIX's news server?

2) Does screamer have a 24/7 technical support service?

3) During the installation.. How long is the cable from the antenna to IDU?

4) Does it connect as follows?
Antenna -> IDU -> Router (Linksys WRT54GS) -> Lame PC?
