Screamer WiMax

Thanks for the help bullseye and yes you were right we lost our connection to Neotel for about an hour tonight but our support sent out SMS's to our clients advising them of this.

To clear up any questions we source bandwidth from a number of different sources so that if there is a major outage on one we have redundancy on the others.

While all the sources are up and running we provision our ADSL clients with blended bandwidth from Seacom and SAIX and our wireless clients on our network get bandwidth from Neotel.

With the Neotel outage today some of our wireless clients would have noticed that their paths were different while they were re routed to other bandwidth.

I didn't get an sms......
:mad:

I did get one and was glad to be informed.

My experience is that screamer service is getting better by the day. :)

so what is the difference between your wireless service and neotel?
What wireless speeds do you offer?
why is it impossible to contact your customer support to get these answers?

The reliability of my connection has been excellent for the last week (especially when I filter the TCP RST messages).

Quiet happy - and I know that Screamer are working on some other changes that should remove the troublesome resets (vs those that should be there).

Would anyone be able to share insight as to why my signal would drastically change from about 5pm onwards. ie.

5pm : DL SNR: 21 - 22 : UL RSSI - 69 : QAM 64 : Tx Power : 19
10pm (now) : DL SNR: 14 : UL RSSI - 70 : BPSK : Tx Power :19 (almost unusable)

Follows this trend daily. Hopefully i can get this sorted before we get back into raiding :<

It's wireless, that's why

Must be interference ... can't see any other reason for a change like that.

Anyone else experiencing high packet loss? I am averaging 5 to 6% at the moment??

I guess the best news is that my connection is weaning me off wow. There are several games that are not online that have attracted my interest.

Back from work and 7% packet loss within Screamer's network (i.e. this isn't an upstream issue)

Ping statistics for 172.17.0.10:
Packets: Sent = 194, Received = 179, Lost = 15 (7% loss),
Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds:
Minimum = 40ms, Maximum = 1081ms, Average = 324ms

Why to I bother reporting this stuff? Guess it's nice to moan ....

edit: Was looking at my signal quality. Downlink is fine but uplink is all over the place. This usually indicates interference, which I hoped would disappear after Sentech stopped their wireless offering. The question is who else is using this spectrum?

So I got home early and was able to get online early - perfect signal quality QAM 64 3/4 up and down ..... until 19:00.

BAM!!

Unknown interference and a crap signal - pinging within Screamer's network gives me the following latency (and consider this is normally 40-50ms on average):
Packets: Sent = 286, Received = 282, Lost = 4 (1% loss),
Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds:
Minimum = 34ms, Maximum = 761ms, Average = 307ms

Guess it will be another evening without reliable internet access. These forums have turned into my personal diary and nobody gives a ****.
