Screamer WiMax

Lack of support here is tiresome, why must customers continously bash their heads for proper service.

Upstream problems (25% packet loss) - or the link to the provider - don't know and too lazy to figure out:

Mine been hell with disconnects on most online applications every 5-10 min. I am not happy at all. I cant get hold of Howzit, Demond or ShaunT to get this ognoing problem sorted.

Howzit can you please get back to us???

So,.. Screamer installed WiMax at my house yesterday. Was ueber impressed at the effectiveness of the installation staff. They seemed to be very passionate about Screamer and the WiMax services.

Everything ran well until 12pm sharp last night. Link down since.

Experience so far,...

Sales - 9/10
Installation - 9/10
Support - ?/10

Phoned tech support this morning at 7:05am (they open from 7am) and 'left a message'. Waiting for a 'return call' eagerly. Will keep you posted.

I hope I am not heading for the problems posted in these forums with their support. But then again,... even if they take 24 hours to respond its still faster than Telkom.

Lets see

Well, received a call and the issue was resolved 20 mins later.

8/10 for support.

You're lucky... I called the support line and left a message on Monday, followed by an e-mail to their support address.

NO RESPONSE

Thanks for offering assistance Howzit, but I after phoning the Screamer call centre a second time the service desk guy sorted me out, I think. Connection looks good so far and no significant speed drop. Will PM if problem arises again.

For the sake of sharing, here's what seems to have solved my problem:
On my PPPOE connection Properties > Security > Advanced Settings chose 'Allow these protocols' with PAP & CHAP protocols ticked and all other protocols unticked. Restarted laptop and viola. I honestly don't understand exactly what these protocols do, but I'm glad it is helping!

Anyone know exactly what this is supposed to resolve and why?

My link is down again,...

I fear the worst,... despite rumours on the forum,... decided to give benefit of doubt to screamer and got them to install WiMax service.

In the first 24hours downtime has been roughly 40%

Epic fail,... Call center does not have ques u can wait in but has a call back service. I am beginning to want to rather wait in qeues personally, then have to sit in anticipation of a call from Screamer technical support.

I am VERY concerned if I have done the right thing right now going with Screamer WiMax,...

Sales 9/10
Installation 9/10
Support 8/10 (When you reach someone)

Product/Screamer Service ?/10

Lets see,.. will keep ya updated

Link is back up,...

Very friendly and empathetic techie talked to me,... although he says there is not disconnection of my link from the tower side,..

Anyhow,.. issue resolved and we will monitor over next 24 hours.

I am warned about the daily 12pm disconnect time though.

Anyway,.. will keep you posted.

Looking forward to Screamer WiMax turning out to be what I expected,... good sound wireless broadband.

Lets see

I've been trying to get screamer to come and do a LOS test at my premises for their wimax service but no response, send in the forms and also no response. WTF!
If a screamer representative is reading this, please contact me.

oh and does anyone know the progress of their installation of a new antenna on the carlton centre in JHB. they said is should be finish 15 December thus more areas will be covered.
