Seacom is down

Do you guys have 3G in Africa? Is that not more of a viable choice? I use it for my laptop when I go on camping trips to Virginia and Alaska. It is like a small USB you stick into your laptop port to connect via satellite. I think my connection is about 20Mbps, slow but it does the job when not at home.

Why does your country not do something about it? Seriously, everytime I log on to this website I am always reading posts of people have the strangest problems I have ever heard of. When i was in Africa for 2 months, I could not even log on properly for weeks on end even though I had a 4mbps package. Very ridiculous.

Africa's a big continent, where were you if you couldn't log on for weeks on end?

I was in the South of Africa. Where the World cup is going on.

South Africa.. .is a country. Where you perhaps in Southern Africa and are now confused? I think you are speaking rubbish if you were in South Africa.

SEACOM official update

"SEACOM services between Mumbai and Mombasa are down since 9:19 GMT/5th July 10. We are still investigating. More updates to follow."

South of Africa is Antarctica

So you were in a Southern African nation? (Southern Africa is like saying Northern America) One of many different countries. Or were you in the Republic of South Africa? Which city?

I was in the capital of as you say South Africa, Joehanasburg (idk if that's the correct spelling).

EDIT: To the guy above, it was a Seacom issue which was all latency, everyone had the problem.

Its not our capital city.. or even one of them. Its just a big business city. Our Capitals are Pretoria, Cape Town and Bloemfontein. We have 3 :D

America has latency issues also.. to any services hosted in SA :)

We've got better 3G than the States. Just very expensive, though :(

Johannesburg LOL, you are seriously joking, no connection for weeks. hahaha

Same thing different spelling. And yes, there were no lines to start off with until I had to rent somewhere which had phone lines... -_-

Why would I ping to SA? All sites are hosted in USA where I ping only 6ms - 10ms.... Online gaming is also Local most of the time.

apparently up to 14.4meg. but the chances of that happening are, well, like it snowing on Venice beach California in july
