Only IS bandwidth, SAIX seems fine..

EDIT: Ok SAIX not so fine :(

SAIX will be a tad better due to the fact that they have more access to the SAT3 and SAFE cables. Nonetheless they will also be impacted by the seacom cable.... (the unshaped, diginet and dedicated accounts get priority - whatever bandwidth is over after that is shared by the rest.)

Yeah true!

Just tried WA and intl is lekker fast lol! :P

Has IS canceled most of its SAT3 access before Seacom ? <<shakes head >>

Not that I know of - I believe they have moved all their shaped accounts and low priority accounts to seacom and left only some SAT3 capacity available for overflow.... Which in this case wasn't nearly enough for all the ADSL users. They recovered quickly though as most of the IS based accounts can sortof work where the MWEB accounts are pretty dead atm. SAIX shaped also seem to be suffering a little (might be because of the higher demand on SAT3 I dunno - wish they would make a network diagram available so that we can see where what flows....Not like that will ever happen :) )

My MWeb ASDL uncapped has been virtually useless since Sunday (Up to then no proplems). I have just come off the phone from being pushed from pillar to post by MWeb. I was passed from 8 (EIGHT) different extentions. My question was "Can I have a refund for these 3 days and counting as my use of www is virtually nil"? I can't believe I was the first person to ask this! They said they would get back to me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If I don't pay the bill I don't get the service so surely if they don't provide the service then I don't pay the bill!!!

It is possible that they might discount you for the 3 days but to be honest if they don't there wouldn't be much you can do. They didn't cause the fault and they have been doing their best to inform people about the progress the upstream provider has been making.

Then you're just lucky! I've been off and on for last few days, depending on how much bandwith is avail I guess. Hopefully their last report stands...and everything will be back to "normal" come midnight

I have not had much problems with my MWeb uncapped account
Surfing and mail have been absolutely trouble free. Some minor issues with news during the work day.

Also Mweb sent me an emails both before outage warning me of potential issues and then on Monday informing of the prolonged outage as well as their plans. It was clearly stated that peer to peer (not that I use much) would be negatively impacted. But the use of the internet to me has not been affected. I can surf, do all the research I want, manage my website etc, without problems

I also find it interesting that you say this as I too am on Mweb uncapped and I have not once had a situation where I was unable to access an international web page. My downloads have been a little eratic but even they have been acceptable considering the issue with cable. If it is your downloads you are referring to then I think you have no chance as the service is not designed for downloading.
