Seacom versus SAT3

Telkom's still harping on about how inline their prices are!... *g* Otherwise I was expecting the cable to go live on Wednesday, but now they say next week Tuesday!...

I'm expecting No fireworks, but the first provider that offers a fantastic uncapped deal, i'll switch! I'm hoping to see some nice reductions from Neotel's side as they bypass Telkom's ridiculous DSL & line rental costs!

so everyone is buying 10x their current bandwidth for the same price, but us endusers are getting raped.

2 days till launch and no real price cuts

#FAIL

...and I doubt it will stop anytime soon

Once everybody else starts undercutting Telkom and not directly using SAIX for their needs, and Telkom starts seeing a decline in customers, then they'll have no choice!

I don't know why you think that you are going to get price cuts *now* when the cable hasn't officially been activated yet.

And on the subject of prices, I doubt we're going to *suddenly* have a price drop. It will most probably come gradually. I've decided to be positive and hopeful, though not unrealistically so. Let's see what happens... things are starting to change, and while it might take a few years, I think 5 years down the line we'll have significantly more/better/faster bandwidth than we do now, and most probably closer to international standards as well.

Don't worry! Even Telkom will come to the party before the end of the year! ;)

Let's be realistic - we live in a capitalist SOCIETY.

To me that means unless our authorities are riding this thing, making sure that competition and lower prices are introduced, the capitalists won't see any reason to not make as much by offering the minimum.

The cable is pretty ineffective without someone cracking a whip - unfortunately the whip wasn't included in the bling upgrades to his 2 new BMW 750i's.

We'll suffer until the authorities decide to pull out their fingers & smell the fresh morning breeze.

"Question Authority, and the authorities will question you." :erm:

hehe... let's wait and see... shall we? Unless you want to make your bet now?

Don't expect drastic price changes until new infrastructure is completely paid for.

I tottally agree this is the nature of things unless there is some sort of consumer watchdog with some real power it will remain a rapage:mad:

Then like SAA, SABC, blah blah blah, they will get a handout from the ANC and get our cash that way. With the governments +-37% in Telkom, do you think they are shaking in their boots?
