Secondary Income

We have a moonlighting clause in our employment contracts. So just don't talk about any extra income

When my passive income exceeded my regular income, I sold the business. This generated some money for further investments. Currently it is 45% rented property, 40% shares and 15% other stuff (one novel investment is cleaning of LPG and other containers and refurbishing them)

I also fix other people's computers and routers when they get stuck. Many many people are clueless about this. Brings in an average of R2500 a month and I only do it when I feel like it

I do have a well-paying day job which is more interesting and challenging. I'm finding this difficult to 'give up' for potentially something much bigger.

Yeah, if you buy a PC and put a few websites on it. Different story when renting multiple racks, buying high end servers, SANs, routers, etc.

Right now, I can pick 2 out of 3. I don't have a family life.

I was just wondering how many people have a secondary income be it active or passive. I would be interested to know what it is and have you been able to see the rewards?

My secondary income is PC work in my spare time which pays out more than my salary, when people need help.

Teachers earn a basic salary, yet we are prohibited from earning a secondary salary for it may affect our dedication and performance.

Any secondary income above a certain amount (I actually don't know the number but it would be quite easy to find out) would have to be declared and subjected to approval ... which I doubt it would.

So if I fix computers after hours and I make say R4000 a month extra I would probably have a problem with the department.

Pfft, trade shares from your desk in the class room man. Beat the system.
