do I put a number like this... +1 743 321 2256 (without spaces)?

Why are they not getting my SMS?

If you're having problems you could try skype - I find it an affordable (though not free) method of sms'ing overseas and since it ghosts your number replies go straight to your cellphone.

No spaces. Ask the person in the USA to send you an SMS and just save that number or reply on it.

Do the smss have advertising (to pay for the cost)?

I signed up last night. Only bugger up is each sms contains the wadja url and your profile url, to make it worse each sms has a 90 character limit, either on your mobile or internet :(

Won't be using it.

My SMS's only have the words "FREE SMS WADJA.COM" at the end of the SMS..

but it's free, and i can send SMS's worldwide for nothing! ...so i'm not complaining :)

Tried that. Those don't get to their cellphone either.

We also tried getting them to send the SMS to me first... but their cellphone does not allow them to enter a + (or they don't know how to do it). So that did not work.

Ask the recipent whether their package includes text messsaging. In the USA you pay to receive an SMS, so texting is an optional feature from most providers.

I have a 4-phone family package from AT&T which includes unlimited SMSs to/from any cellphones, unlimited nationwide (domestic USA) calling to any AT&T cellphone, and 700 free minutes a month. The SMS feature is optional, and without it SMSs can't be received. BTW, the 3G data package costs $15 a month for unlimited mobile data (incl 3G).

Which network are they on?

I had a problem on Cingular once. There are some phones which do not have a + key.

Just tell them to try it like this: 0027821234567.

You try the same for their no. 001646........... etc

I think it may have something to do with the different GSM standards, etc. AT&T numbers work flawlessly and instantly.

dial 001 and then the number, don't drop any digits from the original number.

say the number is 851-547 5699 then you'd sms to 0018515475699

Ja, this is what I am trying to find out now.

Why did this thread get moved? We have not ruled out that this is not a Vodacom problem?
