I found this link that may help explain Sentech's problem of not being able to manage user bandwidth - WHAT A JOKE!

After 2 years+ of running the network someone realises they need software - DUH!

Title: [GLUG-chat] Bandwidth Management
Hi,

Thanks

What a dumbass. This sentence is like a car accident, too. I'll just start typing as the ideas flow into my head and not use any proper punctuation or anything but oh yes the freer the better oh wait there I'll use an apostrophe.

SUPERSTAR!

Guy is probably looking for personal use. If his addy wasn't sentech.co.za, the OP wouldn't even have mentioned it. Just think how many times do we get that question here. Get over your bad Sentech experience (I did :D) and carry on with life ;)

Luke7777 you could well be right - however if they did have software in place, the use of bandwidth over the softcap limits woulf have been prevented.

I won't "get over it" as you say until I have been compensated for what is RIGHT. No matter what it takes - we South Africans are far to complaisant.

Have no problem with that statement, been well documented in these forums of the last couple of years :D, was just the link you made/implied between the employee's request and Sentech's problem

Also no problem with that, was actually poking at Donovan there :)

Sentech makes up ludicrous statements about its service, and now they're making up ludicrous words too...

Sorry, what I meant to say was:

Sentech make's up ludicrou's statement's about it's service, and now they're making up ludicrou's word's too...

Bandwidth Management

Never thought these sites would be used for personal attacks.... thought they may have been created for knowledge sharing...... :(

I was looking for something for me too play with, the pursuit of knowledge...

Sentech does have and use bandwidth management tools.

As for my English... pity I am not of your caliber... keithr

Cheers... Donovan's SUPERSTAR

PS.. If you have problems with the company... deal with those responsible..
If you have problems with my English.... deal with the education department...

Bad Service

Bad Service makes me lose that "Loving Feeling"

Sentech was fine until they became greedy....

My anger sent me to the internet to see if there are any other people who have the same problems with the atrocious service from Sentech.

I was not surprised to find a few hundred Sentech users lamenting the Sentech services.

Sentech no longer cares about the customer, they have lost their focus and their need for us, that is short-sighted, we are the reason they have a business.

Question is what can we do other than change our contracts which I hate doing because of all the nonsense involved with FICA. Plus I have suffered two years of Sentech to finally be on a month to month basis, do I now give up and go to iburst or one of the others who are now having teething problems.

Is there honestly a service in SA that is good?

Month for month with sentech can be horribly expensive considering their crazy bandwidth prices once you are out of the clasic package. 3 choices.... go to iburst, go to adsl or go to the dark ages of dialup. When my contract is up I will more than likely go to iburst and use my sentech modem as a wall ornament.

@keithr,

I challenge you to open an ISP and solve all of their problems, since all you get from this forum is criticism. (even myself) I think your dig at the poster is a bit low, as sentech is a huge company with MANY departments.

I am sure sentech have got all the software to manage their bandwidth - but the skills to implement it properly is another story. I can hear the faint pleas from the SysAdmins, "Where is the setup wizard?!" :-)

Is Sentech still using an abacus?

This cannot be a serious discussion! I am having a right barney with Sentech about them billing me for usage when I was not in the country, or did not use service, or was in the bush. Are you telling me that the reason why they can't find anything wrong with their system is that they still use an abacus to calculate client usage?

Any uses for my MyWireless modem and router?

I really need to get rid of Sentech! Is there any other service that inter-changes with their modems and routers? Or is the wall ornament option the only alternative?

Gonna have to be an ornament. :D

English at Sentech

I think the Sentech problem will be better if they employ people who has English as their 2nd language at least. The support staff I have recently been dealing with have English as their 19th language or less and are not capable of using the telephone.

Other than that, calling them with a problem is way too expensive, I do not earn enough to be on hold for hours. I have discovered if you call around 3am you will have a short waiting period.

Wish we could have someone in business who really cares, or at least competition strong enough to make them realise they are no longer up to standard!

I think the penny has dropped, they know they're no longer up to standard. They just don't know what to do about it.

EISH !!!

IT WASN'T ME

hehe

Sorry was I bit harsh? Came straight from a debate in off topic and forgot that this is a calmer thread, no need to hammer my point with quite so little delicacy :o

Anyway what I meant was that I think they are struggling to find their feet in this competitive market :D
