Hi all,

I was wondering if it was possible to make an inexpensive security camera system for home.

All I need is to have 1 or 2 cameras connected directly to a monitor. I don't need anything recorded or anything fancy. I just want live feed from the camera(s) to the monitor. Without an expensive DVR.

Is it possible for 1 or 2 cameras? If so, how would I go about setting it up?

Thanks

I use this: http://www.bidorbuy.co.za/item/1687...erproof_Cameras_and_a_4_Channel_Receiver.html

I have the four wireless cameras up at key points around my house, no wiring needed. One central receiver comes with it, which I plug into the tv. You also get a remote that can switch between the cameras manually or automatically. When I go away on weekends I connect the receiver to a usb capture device into a laptop, and stream the feed using ustream. I can then at any time look what going on around my house on my mobile phone.

One day I want to have a security system that even has infrared cameras, and streams to your phone, now I'm cash strapped.

I think its pretty difficult to find cameras without infrared.

Besides, what would be the point of using it in the dark then? You won't be able to see a thing!

so if you wanted to capture the motion activated video during the day you would plug it into the usb capture device all the time?

I always worry about spending so much money then some idiot just vandalizes them.

Will need some security cameras for my folks when they retire along the Wild coast, getting dodgy for anyone in those areas these days.
