Setting up Meatgear N300 on a different ip range - help

I have recently moved and the new place has free internet via ethernet cable. The range of the dhcp server is 192.168.1.2 to 192.168.1.254

I want to use my Netgear N300 (DGN2200v4) as a WiFi AP from this cable. It is set up originally to use 192.168.0.?? as ip's. I am having difficulty setting it up for the range from the ethernet line.

Any advice or suggestions welcome.
 
disable DHCP, setup ur netgear on the same IP range, make sure you give it an IP that isn't being used and that is near the top of the available range.

ie.

change your netgear to use 192.168.0.199, and disable DHCP so you dont break the network.
 
Enable wireless AP mode maybe?

Don't think it will be a good idea to give your router a static IP on the 192.168.1.0 range, it will clash with someone else at some point, the whole range is being used. 192.168.1.1 is probably their router dishing out the IP's. So a static IP in that range is a no no seeing that dhcp goes from 2-254.
Best would be to utilize your WAN port on that router and set it to get a IP via DHCP from that ethernet cable. Then you can use the 192.169.0 range for yourself. Will be double natting, but think it will work fine...

Or else just leave the router on what it is now, disable DHCP on it, and plug that cable into a lan port. It should still broadcast the DHCP requests from the ethernet cable over wireless and your lan ports on the device, had a old router work fine like that. Only thing is if you need to log on to the router you will need to give yourself a static IP in the 192.168.0 range to log onto it
