Severe thunderstorms expected in Gauteng

Phoning the insurance tomorrow. So much hail that the rain came through the ceilings.

Yoh, talk about a 180 on the weather patterns. :D A couple of nights ago it was 30C at midnight after days of 35-37 without a drop of moisture about. I was hardly registering 12C after that little lot. Jukskei burst its banks badly I believe? I'm sure the spruit is pumping as well.

That was an almighty amount of ice and rain that fell in the north today.

Oh, and inb4 "this helps our water situation nothing due to the high amount of runoff" - the ANC

Looked ugly early with huge TS activity over most of Gauteng and going up north.

This is how it looked in my neighbourhood:

dude, going on the outside of cars like that is very dangerous to other riders, and at some points made you ride in the pools of water, anyway hope it was just because of the rain and not the norm.

my bike ride home was ***, but i would have died laughing if i past you on your msx125 xD

The rain made it so you could not see through the visor. Opening the visor and you get dirty water splashed into your eyes. Half of the ride I was riding blind. The water kept on washing the bike away. The stock tyres on the MSX 125 are shyyte.

Bit of hail last night and lots of rain :)

School was knocked with hail (about 10km from our house) but we got almost nothing.

That was. . .colourful. :D

At one point I thought you were heading on to Kliprivier and that would have been hell on a bike. Even in a car the right hand lane was unusable. 10/20km/h all the way up to the Rifle Range off-ramp.

I am really glad I did not have to travel on Kliprivier. From what I have heard it would have turned out to be like a white river rafting experience.

do you commute on it everyday?

More hailstorms set to hit Gauteng - EMS

JOHANNESBURG – Johannesburg Emergency Services has issued a warning for further hailstorms in the city this week and has urged young children to stay away from areas prone to flooding.

It says the powerful hailstorm that swept across the city and its surroundings has led to a fatal car crash, severe damage to homes, vehicles and mass evacuations.
Emergency services Robert Mulaudzi says five people died and several other were injured in accidents which are believed to be linked to the storm. Flights in and out of OR Tambo International Airport were also affected, while power lines fell over on the West Rand.

"The right hand lane"? Wasn't the flooding on the left?
