Sexiest Opel EVER!!

No, Scirocco looks like a squashed toad. Notice the distinct Opel design motifs such as the "blade" side as opposed to the "dented in" side of the VW. Roof line is also more dramatic, as is the exhaust tips. Comparing a Scirocco to this car is not fair actually due to the [-]tame and dulled down[/-] traditional nature of VW styling.

Fiesta with a Mazda 3 se gat...
Lol, i dont see that in this, but that ^ would be a damn good looking car IMO! :)

Do you guys think they've made the foggies look like the Corsa OPC's Exhaust on purpose? Is it one of their "OPC things" ? Or am i just looking into it too much?

Well "spotted" (pun intended). They are actually some how descended from the "shark teeth" idea that is a hallmark on the Insignia OPC :

...and this is the rear of the Insignia OPC :

Pity that a big Opel will never again sell in SA. The Insignia is 4 generations after the Ascona we last had here in the 80's.

Good god that Insignia is beautiful :O It's everything the Chevy Cruize isn't! Very nice looking family saloon!

I would actually $h1t my pants if Opel had to bring out a new Calibra and ship it down here! Pitty it will more than likely never happen, but oh if only it could

Insignia does battle with the Passat, A4, 3-series and C-Class. These days the OPC models are 4x4 to keep up with the competition but as Fifth Gear pointed out the more established cars like the S4 will beat the OPC : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ieFCLeyAUxM

The Astra OPC on the other hand has a solid reputation for being a hot hatch so it can easily take on the competition.

Funny you should mention Chevy, it is the main reason why GMSA is not bringing the Insignia to SA. They are already struggling to get market share and would rather have you drive off with a golden bow-tie sourced from Korea or down under than in an expensive German import... Maybe someday if I'm really bored and have cash to burn I'll try importing a used Vectra or Insignia from the UK. They are pretty much worthless there.

To paraphrase good ol' Jeremy Clarkson: Saying the new Astra OPC is the sexiest Opel EVER is like saying 'Ooh good I’ve got syphilis, the BEST of the sexually transmitted diseases'. :p

:D He also once expressed his hate of the Vectra (Insignia predecessor) by illustrating how he would travel past the moons of Jupiter in order not to drive one.

Thats only cos he has a Ford Mondeo shoved 23inches up his arse :D He swears by them!

Off the thread a bit

Hi, Im looking for a new car and would love this OPC, but one thing I notice is that people say financing a car via the house bond,
How would you do that and why, better repayments?

+1!

Another question i have, and i'm sure someone has asked this before somewhere but couldn't find an answer...

Why did the OPEL Corsa bakkie become a Chevy when Opel is still selling their own other models here?

It has to do with regional brands and unfortunately for us Opel a European region brand according to GM. Their global brand in Chevrolet so that is what they try to push everywhere else. With regards to the Corsa bakkie, it was co-developed in SA and Brazil and the latest iteration was pretty much a Brazillian effort using Deawoo/Chev part so that is why its now a Chevrolet.

This is nothing new of course, we had a few Opels badged as Chevrolet back in the 70's and 80's

Hey Roux what's your view on the Astra sedan?

It's a fairly good looking car compared to the Focus/Jetta/3/Cruise/Cerato....

Yet we don't see many on the road...
