Hi, I just did a speedtest again and was invited to share the results. I actually would like to share mY results as I am paying Telkom for a 4MBps line (Up to 4096/10016kbps Line) Package and although I am guaranteed not to get less than 1MBps speed, this happens quite a lot. So let's see what happens if I share my results?
Test conducted on Sat Jan 05 2013 22:40:39 GMT+0200 (South Africa Standard Time)

Download Speed: 1818 kbps (227.3 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 396 kbps (49.5 KB/sec transfer rate)
Latency: 134 ms

Download Speed: 7706 kbps (963.3 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 837 kbps (104.6 KB/sec transfer rate)
Latency: 27 ms
Switch to OpenWeb ;-)

Need to test on the same servers as well

Your latency is even more worrying than the speed. Have your ISP or telkom test the line and see.

And MyBB:

Download Speed: 8111 kbps (1013.9 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 854 kbps (106.8 KB/sec transfer rate)
Latency: 21 ms

Switch to Mweb :)

She probably did the test on an international server, not a local one. Still getting above the 1mbps she mentioned too. I'd recommend getting a trial account at mweb and checking the difference. if there is and they rule out DSLAM congestion, I'd say move. She also didn't say if Telkom was her ISP. "Paying telkom for a 4mbps line" only indicates she's paying them for the line (like we all do), but doesn't mention who the ISP is (people forget it's different/can be different, much like the older generation STILL goes to the post office to pay their telkom accounts because they still under the impression telkom and the post office is the same entity like it was before)
