I saw a thread this morning about a electric shaver. I am still on the old razors and use gel to soften the skin. But I still use a old 2 blade "excell" blade.

When I walk into a shop and see all the different razors, I get confuse and wonder is it better to go for the 3 blade one, as my razor works well. Is a 3 blade razor better than the 2 blade. I shave in the shower, wetting my face a few times, then only shave at the end, to make the skin / beard very soft.

The 3-blade razor has been scientifically tested to give you a close and comfortable shave. It also has the advantage of making much more money for the manufacturer, who will try and persuade you by airing TV ads showing a nubile young lady stroking the freshly shaved chin of a young man who has apparently used one of their products

I just buy whatever is reasonably priced...and then throw them away pretty fast (once a week).

The blades will get dull one way or another & I don't think that 300% premium one pays for the name brand equals lasting 300% longer.

Just grow a beard man.. and spend your savings on some good beer.

I've bought Gillette and Bic. Couldn't tell the difference. I just enjoy a smooth shave. Helps confuse the ladies about my age (26).

Used the cheap BIC for 30 years. Lasts the longest, sharpest, no nicks and damn close. Just hide from guests in your bathroom....

Grow a goddamn beard you lil dip****s. Clean shaven makes you look like a wet behind the ears boy.

Single edge razor. Shave like grandpa did
Much much better. Blades cheap as chips

This. Your face will love you for it. I use a DE safety razor, won't ever go back to cartridge.

/me hugs fatip grande

How long does a blade last. What soap/cream do u use. I have never see those handles for sale.

If you have a sensitive skin then 3 blades can be more irritating to the skin than 2 or 1 blade, for obvious reasons.

I shave once a week with a tough beard and like to swop my blades once a month. It depends on your beard and shave frequency how long a blade will last but you can obviously tell.

I started with a cheapy lion DE ( R29) that came with a pack on 5 blades. Soap, you can ( other de shavers don't shoot me) use normal cream gel but you should really use a proper soap and brush to get a nice warm lather. I started with palm shave, tube like tooth paste that you squeeze a pea size out and foam up.

I'm now using a fatip grande which is a heavier razor with aggressive head. Works like a charm for me. Soap, busy try the artisan soap pucks, wild goat I think this one is that's spicy rum smell, about R69 a puck.

There's a good online store on bid or buy, river valley trading, great service and products.

Where in JHB can I buy an old school single blade razor... Like the barbers use?

Schick Quattro Titanium(4 blades), without a doubt the longest lasting multiblade razor, much cheaper than Gillette.

They have little titanium wires over the blades to stop nicks which essentially makes them last forever because they keep the blades gliding over your face no matter if they have gone a little dull.

A little insider tip, the disposable Quattro uses the identical head to the expensive handle + blade packs. You buy the nice handle + single blade once and then just buy disposable version and take off the blade to use on the nice handle.

Granted I shave most of my beard off with a Philips electric razor and then just finish it off with a razor. I've used a single Quattro blade for 12months, still felt fine but was looking a little ratty, fitted a new one and it didn't feel much sharper. Previously used Gillette Mach 3 which went properly blunt after a months or 2.

What is this razor thing?

Haven't used it since high school.

Electric shaver or trimmer.

I reckon I've saved more money than the average smoker does who stops for 10 years.
