I keep a few of those when i travel, but have to be honest the gillette razor seems to give me a better shave with less knicks and cuts.
 
But is that particular soap special in some way, that's what I was wondering, he mentioned glycerine in particular.

The glycerine has a higher oil content than normal soaps, that whats make it glide easier. Less lather though.

Yea, lather is not important though, all it does is make you have to rinse the blade more often. I'm also sure the gels and foams that Gillette etc sell make my blades dull faster and also clog the razors up.

When I use a can of foam my blades last 3 to 4 weeks, when I use glycerine They last 6 + weeks (I got a shaving kit thingy with foam in from someone in 2015 so used it up).

That's the can foam stuff... normal soap foam is very different
