shaving razors

There's a trick that involves basically stropping the blade on your pants leg before you use it that prolongs the life of any razor. I use something like a Gillette Max Blue II disposable which generally lasts me 3-4 months before I invariably drop it in the shower and have to replace it.

A little insider tip, the disposable Quattro uses the identical head to the expensive handle + blade packs. You buy the nice handle + single blade once and then just buy disposable version and take off the blade to use on the nice handle.

Granted I shave most of my beard off with a Philips electric razor and then just finish it off with a razor. I've used a single Quattro blade for 12months, still felt fine but was looking a little ratty, fitted a new one and it didn't feel much sharper. Previously used Gillette Mach 3 which went properly blunt after a months or 2.
Thanks for the tip.

What is this razor thing?

Haven't used it since high school.

Electric shaver or trimmer.

I reckon I've saved more money than the average smoker does who stops for 10 years.
You still need to shave downtown and my rotary shaver pulls hair.

Basically this, I rub it against my arm opposite of the shaving direction.

Also leave your razor on silica gel pads.

Use the same disposables these days, went to the shop the other day and they did not have any so got some Duel brand ones, new ones feel blunt.

I used Gillette Mach 3 since highschool, cheapies and disposables never worked for me, they literally made shaving even more of a pain.
I tried cheap electric shavers in the past, both foil and rotary, but always wanted to try a decent foil shaver. Since Gillette Mach 3 became more expensive by the day and harder to find, around a month ago I got a Braun series 7, boy what a pleasure.
Sure it doesn't shave as close as a razor does, though it gets quite close and does the job more than good enough plus comfortably. The big bonus for me though is that shaving is no longer a shlep, I can shave while lying in bed, I can shave while sitting drinking my coffee, heck if you want you can even shave in the car on your way to work. I now shave every day without even thinking about it, in the past I used to skip days and often only shaved every third day when it was already overdue by a decent groath.

I used various brands over the years single, double, triple you name it.
Main problem is that I only shave once a week and my beard is strong so those little cartridges get clogged and become unusable.

Six months ago I started using DE razor blades and it is such a pleasure to use it.
Diskem has kit for like R20 (handle and 5 blades) so it is cheap for you to try.
I still have to buy better handle, got some better blades and I replace them after 3 shaves.

Shave is much quicker and I do not cut myself as much any more.

You need to visit rivervalleytrading.co.za and on bid or buy. Get yourself a nice DE razor there.

I also use DE and have the fatip grande, very aggressive but rewarding if you treat it with respect.

You know, if you rinse the cartridge under running water, they become unclogged...

Problem is the multi blade ones get badly clogged by thick hairs. I had a similar issue, the single aggressive DE open combs don't have that problem.

Depends more on the shaving gel used in my experience. Some clog horribly fast
