Another Halal slaughter requirement.

The knife should be hidden from the animal, and slaughtering should be done out of sight of other animals waiting to be slaughtered.

Is that what happened here?

I feel sorry for these people going nuts about the animal abuse factor.

They've obviously never heard of the Ortolan as a meal and will assuredly never enjoy the experience.

I do understand the mosque thing, I used to live about 4kms from a Mosque in Durban and could constantly hear the call to prayer from the place. For me it wasn't loud enough to be a nuisance but what about the people who lived closer, I can only imagine it must have been nearly deafening.

you really being as fair as possible on your comments :) although i would disagree on azaan being noise pollution (but that my opinion) if against the bylaws then by all means no azaan over loudspeaker, (like where i live) and if not well like you said
 
I know a guy who has 3 Nigerian dwarf goats in his yard. He uses them to get Milk, cheese and butter. He has lots of schemes to get of the grid and be self sufficient.

I like being the reasonable person at times :p

As for the call to prayer, I get upset about the loud speaker version since there are other options that do not involve making non-muslims listen to it such as the localised radio broadcast which I personally think is a great use of technology to achieve a religious goal

As a human being you need the nature but because of economic reasons most are forced to be in cities. The naturalness of the rural has to be integrated with the urban, otherwise concrete jungles will be the end of our civilization.

Morningside sheep hoof it

The 60 sheep being kept on a Morningside residential property before their sacrifice in the Muslim celebration of Eid al-Adha have been removed.

The sighting of the sheep, in 7th Avenue, is the third such case in Durban in a week.

The Mercury reported on Tuesday that around 67 sheep and goats were being kept in a plush Westville neighbourhood.

On Monday, The Mercury carried a report saying that 100 sheep and goats worth R250 000 were being housed at a luxury property in Morningside.

They have also since been removed.

In all three instances, neighbours and ward councillors alerted the city and complained about the smell and noise coming from the animals.

The animals were being kept on the property until they could be sold to worshippers before today’s prayer.

One of the people selling the animals at 7th Avenue – who wished to remain anonymous – said they had been brought closer to the city so that indigent families could afford to partake in the religious observance.

The animals were being sold for between R1 450 and R2 800 each.

“Some people don’t have bakkies and the trip to the farm can be very expensive. Some people want to do it, but simply can’t.”

Most of the meat from the slaughter was distributed to poorer families, he said.

“I am very disappointed because I try to be as tolerant and accommodating of everyone as I can.”

He said the animals had been kept on the property for three days.

“One of our neighbours told us that what we were doing was a form of animal cruelty because she was a vegetarian. Others told me that this was a white area so we couldn’t keep the sheep here.”

Ahh shame..

I was because it was implied in the original article... so a new article has different information therefore the implication in the original article is no longer applicable...

Does that assuage your little black and white viewpoint of the world now?
