A macbook pro... I can get it either by Christmas, or next year someone before june...

Thing is, there is no way of knowing when they will update them and if it is after june then I will have to wait even more, I have been waiting so long already...

They're not going to update them, they just got updated with Core i5's and i7's and nVidia 330 graphics. I just got a Macbook Pro 13". I also have a Dell XPS M1530 laptop running OS X flawlessly. The Mac is still nicer.

So yes get a Macbook Pro now, or even a new Macbook Air (those things are awesome!)

The MacBook Pro was updated in April, if I remember correctly, so it should get a refresh some time around now. It will probably be a silent update - no big event - and fairly minor improvements.

You are basically paying for the brand name when buying a Mac Book

Get it now, you are missing out on a great computing experience

I have 4 Sony Viao's, 2 with XP 1 with Vista and 1 with Windows 7. I also have two MacBook Pro's with OSX. There is no comparison, the Sony's will be donated to a school or something, because I just don't use them. The MacBook Pro is a better machine in all aspects - no nonsense, very fast boot-up, no errors, no virus programs to hang the computer, very responsive etc etc. Get your's ASAP, you won't be sorry.

Must agree - will probably be an update in the next few months (even if only minor) so maybe hang on a little longer??

Technology changes all the time - to keep waiting is like wishing your life away - unless there is a MAJOR upgrade coming - which I doubt. If you wait for next year, then there will be another new upgrade that they will be working on....will you at that stage tell yourself to wait again ? The current Core i7 15 " is smoking hot - I know, I am typing this on it.

Sweet, don't think I can wait any longer...

I am one of those instant gratification people, and I am going for top spec, so it should last me a couple years.

According to a post on Macrumours, Intel are launching a new range of processors in Q1 of 2011. The speculation seems to be that a facelift could be offered incorporating those chips as well as Hi def screen and SSD. Of course a new GPU may also be in the mix.
Can't wait to get my hospitalized MCP back to compare it against my Dell XPS 1640. (Crapped before I could use it. )

@pooky. If you waited for the latest technology before buying anything electronic, you can save a lot of money - but you will never own anything electronic!!

Personally I'm waiting until the i7 chips have AES-NI too. So far it's only the very high end 32nm one that does.
