Of course the anc will want prisoners to vote because of the huge number of them and they are mostly anc/eff type supporters as well but mostly anc especially seeing the anc creates special releases to please their needs.
 
Don't think I am fussed either way. Personally I don't mind if they can if they want to. Its an important right for many.

Also they may have a bigger desire for political change than us.

For instance a lot of prisoners are prisoners due to failed state reasons impacting their life. Perhaps in prison they do some thinking about that and vote for a government that will leave less kids growing up in broken, and crime ridden areas with little chance to escape that life. Unlikely I know but in these cases I tend to think how would I like to be treated if for whatever reason I ended up there.
 
Before worrying about whether prisoners get to vote or not, maybe the IEC should actually get to people who applied for special votes first. My grandmother was overlooked for the last general election as well as the second-to-last municipal election, even though she had a special vote on both occasions.
 
Actually. I changed my mind. Remembering Convicts thread I think the majority of prisoners would want to vote for whatever party would be most incompetent at running the police force to reduce their chances of being caught in future. So I say No, no vote for prisoners.
 
An incarcerated burden on the tax paying society should automatically surrender the right to determine the direction society follows.

When in prison you lose all your normal rights such as freedom to movement and it should specifically be in the constitution that if in prison or whilst on parole you lose your right to vote.

This will only affect three parties mainly being the prisoner, anc and the eff.

Doing this stops the ANC from buying votes with a Tshirt and a 2piece

It also opens up the elections because the queues will be alot shorter. So therefore Piet down the road will feel better about standing in a shorter queue and make the effort

Everyone already pays VAT, that is why I'm talking about income tax. There is somewhere a middle ground on how to handle it, in my opinion. That's why I suggested a optional income tax at a low rate which enables you to vote.
 
They voted to be in jail... but imagine the strict controls over pens when its voting time.....
