I don't know to be honest, I don't really follow the latest trends in jewellery (which is really what Swatch is).
It started by the original bezel being severely scratched up and, with it being black, there was no way I could just leave it like that. So, the old black surface finish obviously came off when I started re-finishing the bezel to get rid of the deep scratches (I'll post a pic of the process in the Horology thread). Because I wanted to add colour to the bezel again, and not leave it with the normal stainless finish, I was trying to think of a surface treatment that's hard wearing, but also very thin in order to preserve the outer contours of the bezel ring. The light came on when I cleaned one of my guns one day (which was Cerakoted) and figured that would be an interesting, hard wearing surface on a watch that's going to endure a lot of wear and tear.
