Im now convinced Showmax is a load of ****, 2 nights in a row I've been having issues with it, it keeps on telling me my Javascript is not enabled. Well let me tell you something, this platform wouldn't recognize Javascript even if it was staring it in the face and yes my JavaScript is active..........Naspers better rethink their platform as currently it is failing terribly!!! NETFLIX much more stable.

Don't even try contacting Showmax support. They don't bother to respond to e-mails. Support on Netflix on the other hand is awesome. I used the chat function last night. I was assisted immediately and issue was resolved. It's a no brainer for me as to where my money goes...

And this was regarding missing Afrikaans shows seasons.
 
Netflix might be much more sleak and stable, but in my opinion Showmax has much more / better content than Netflix SA. After 2 or so months I'm actually considering canceling Netflix.

Update:- Still battling with Showmax, been in touch with customer support and in short they are stumped, they can not figure out what the problem is.

VERY DISAPPOINTED.......... i think it is refund time?

Both platforms have the pros and cons hence that's why i use both.

Netflix has a lot of series and docies which we dont really see on mainstream TV, Showmax however has more common series that show on DSTV and then some.

Movies on both platforms are old and tired.

I think it comes down to personal choice, however at least we have the choice to use both or only one of the platforms and it is still 1/8 of the price of DSTV.
All they got to do now is get them to work properly referring to SHOWMAX.

I like the content on Showmax, but feck me, there is no option on my device to get fullscreen
 
Hey everyone

Just wanted to give you my feedback as a Showmax user for 4 months and then moved over to Netflix SA.

As I got Showmax first it was very nice for me and my girlfriend, but strange things were happening which I blamed on my ISP and later on realized was actually Showmax and hence I moved to Netflix SA and was never disappointed about my move.

So what was happening which I didn't blame on my ISP:

1. Certain shows had episodes missing in their season's playlist. Like for instance my girlfriend loves "Hannon the Glam Guru" and season 1 has an episode missing (I think episode 3).
2. Certain shows only has 2 of the 8 seasons for example Las Vegas (Which the last episode aired in 2008)

Stuff I blamed on my ISP which I later realized was Showmax issues:

1. The streams would just time out and then I would have to resume them... When I tried another ISP the same thing happened.
2. Some Episodes would buffer on my 4mb line although everything else I did on the line was 100%. So I thought this might be my ISP but when I changed ISP the same thing happened. After experimenting more on this I realized that it was only certain episodes that would buffer for example: The Elementary season 3 episode 13 or 14 (Can't remember the exact episode) would buffer but when I watch the episode just after that everything runs smoothly.

So after realizing all the above I went over to Netflix SA for one Month now and am not looking back.

Sure, they don't have all the content which Netflix USA have but I can live with that.

I have not had buffering issues at all, streams didn't time out and if their shows has all the seasons except those airing at the moment (Or at least the shows I have been watching).

Also their application on smart TV's and Mobile phones is way more advanced than Showmax.

So my verdict:

I beleive Showmax can be a big competitor for Netflix SA with the pricing but currently there is way to much strange stuff happening with their services.

Will I give them a try in a years time again? Yes definitly but for now Netflix is the service you need if you want a hassle free service.
