Sickbeard / sabnzbd

Thread resurrection.

Guys I need some help please. I am trying to set up xbmc with my HP microserver and have come to the conclusion that I need to have my content properly organised for it all to work well together. I have been using sickbeard and SABnzb for ages but it has always pretty much just dumped everything into a single folder. I don't care about salvaging the old content but I need to fix it now so I can save myself headaches later.

What and how should I go about doing it? I tried in the past but it ended up being a massive mess which is why I gave up last time.

Sorry I know this is an annoying question but I have already received a thorough openelec+xbmc beatdown this weekend and I'm a bit gatvol of sukkeling.

Can you provide a screenshot of how the folders currently look.

It's not even necessary. At the moment all my series downloads go in my "TV" folder which lies in z: downloads/complete/TV. When I do manual movie downloads it just goes and sits in complete. The downloaded episodes or movies are not in individual folders either. (I disabled the new folder for each download setting in SABnzb iirc.)

Quickly Copy Movie Files to Individually Named Folders

I have to think about the TV shows.

For the series...

Manual post processing in sickbeard. When I switched to nzbs that littke feature sorted through around 3tb worth of unsorted stuff, renamed and moved to correct folders.

Easy peasy.

Create a folder for each series and just dump the episodes in the relevant folders, add the series location to sickbeard and let it scan the episodes into the database, then select the preview rename action and rename the files, it will sort them into season folders and rename them how you wish, you can also add metadata as well.

Does sickbeard create a separate folder for each series and episode or does it just dump everything into one folder (eg tvshows) then you have to manually create the folders and sub folders

Depends how you set it up. Mine creates a folder for each series, in which there is a folder for each season

Not home now but i use CouchPotato to sort out my movies and Sickbeard to sort out my Series.

Will get the layout when i get home and post it.

Mine creates a folder for the TV show when I add it to sickbeard then creates season folders when needed, it doesn't create a folder for each episode though, I don't see that as an option but I don't see why you'd want that, season folders are sufficient.

That's how I would like to set it up. Where do you do that?

thanks
Go to config and select post processing:

Assuming you are using sickbeard + sabnzbd combo under the subsection called post processing select only the "rename episodes" check box
Under the naming section you can set it to whatever you prefer, mine is: Season %S\%SN S%0SE%0E - %EN (%QN) , so you get: Season 2\Show Name S02E03 - Ep Name (HD TV).ext as your naming convention.
For metadata select the appropriate type and let sickbeard do all the work.

My Sick beard also basically as Nduimiso has posted without the quality option.

Mine is linux server so /
Season%0S/%SN - S%0SE%0E - %EN

You can add a folder to monitor on the top "TV Download Dir"

Couch Patato

Under Renamer in settings

Selecet the from folder make new location the to folder.

folder name:<namethe> (<year>) <quality>
file name:<thename> <cd>.<ext>

Can add more details when you click on the right "add option"

Movies dont need to be added by you it will scan the folder and add all the movies it can pickup by the name.

I am busy downloading BlueBloods series and on Season 3. Sickbeard created the directory "Blue Bloods" where it dumped a whole bunch of the episodes and info.
Now it created other directories for various episodes - how come.

That doesnt look like sickbeard created them, but SABNZBD did.

I think you may have your download folder from Sabnzbd mixed into the folder that Sickbeard should manage, or the other way around.

It should work like this.

Downloads\incomplete <-- stuff busy downloading
Downloads\complete\sickbeard <-- category folder for sickbeard which you let sickbeard add stuff as into Sabnzbd. This folder is also the folder sickbeard scan for stuff that finished downloading, and it should sort out
TV-Shows\ <--- Folder that hosts tv shows, which should be managed by Sickbeard. In here Sickbeard will create show folders when you add a show, and in those folders sickbeard will automatically create season folders.

Ok, attached are my sickbeard and sab configs.

The reason it created those other directories is that sickbeard wasn't running, but all episodes are in one folder called Blue Bloods.
No episode directories exist under the Blue Bloods directoy.

Put up a screenshot of your categories page from SABNZBD as well, I got a feeling the problem is there.
