Word of Warning
Word of warning:
Needed to buy a 2nd tv and went into local hi-fi corporation about 2 months ago.
Have digital tv - was lucky enough to buy overseas 8 (EIGHT!) years ago already so not stupid - although never been able to use it's dvb tuner yet.
Asked salesman what tv's he had that were digital.
Answer: " Sir, all the high tech LCD & Plasma High Definition are digital."
Spent half an hour examining each and every one - NOT A SINGLE TV IN THE WHOLE SHOP WAS!!

The whole bang shoot are still analog! Utterly Pathetic! Only in africa can they get away with this!
The sales people don't know their mouth from their ass. Buy a 20 grand tv - you'll still have to buy the STB when they come out - which won't be cheap if they intend integrating satelite receivers and digital tuners in the same box as the article and that idiot Ian Develing is suggesting.
No where near the 500 bucks they talking about anyway.....IMHO
As a side point, that idiot says; quote:
"The state broadcaster, which has a 65% share of the TV audience market, will also be able to better track licence fees by means of subscriptions to the new service"
How? Wait! Wot did he say? Subscription service?
Is he serious!!
Yipee kayay ........M...........F.......

I'm Gone & not subscribing to SABC cr@p!
Perhaps the state broadcaster is going the simm card - pay tv route (is that constitutional?).
But sadly, they probably too greedy, but would have been great for me. Now you can refuse to subscribe and only claim to watch dstv, or, like me - public boquet and dvds - can't force tv licence anymore simply cause I can receive a signal.
But like Depeche Mode says: The gabbing hands, grab all they can, all for themselfs, afterall, everything counts in large amounts.
So chances of that are prettty slim they would go that route, no matter what that idiot is talking about.
