Hi!

Just a bit of advice needed. I'm going to be travelling to Ireland in a few days but am still stuck deciding between roaming with a prepaid vodacom sim, or getting a sim card/data package when I land.

Experienced travelers, what worked out best for you?

Bud, buy a local (destination) SIM card .

You will most likely get raped with roaming charges. You might think you have everything under control, then you'll come back home realizing you made a big mistake.

Take this advice.
We always just buy a local SIM and enable SMS roaming on South African SIM.
Never had an issue before.

Cell C WiFi calling on the compatible cellphone and, of course a local SIM card with a data bundle.

Activate WiFi calling before leaving the country.

Yeah. Will probably go the route of the local sim. Just seems like the most reliable option. The Vodacom travel saver option was tempting for all of 2 minutes.

pop a local SIM in your smartphone, put your SA SIM is the most simple dumb phone you can buy at PEP, best of both worlds

Forget traditional phone calls. Buy a local sim with a few gigs loaded and use WhatsApp for keeping in touch back home.
