Hey Vodacom!

So I got an e-mail today that said "You have an MMS message".

Only problem is, it was not an MMS, it was an SMS that a friend sent to me in April when his dad was in hospital (His dad has since died).

So my question is... how did the SMS become an MMS, and why did it come to my e-mail six months late instead of to my cellphone?

Hey, look... I'm glad I eventually got it... but six months? :D

I got exactly the same thing from a friend, except I got the "MMS" on Tuesday.

Must be a tasty server error.

MMS can consist of text only and perhaps your friend made a error when sending the message. It is a bit strange about the late delivery though. Is your phone set up for MMS? MMS is normally pretty quick. Not as quick as SMS of course but should be normally be delivered within 10 minutes of it being sent. This is from l remember from when I last used MMS. Pretty long ago now as I basically only use WhatsApp now for messaging and sending pics.

OC,this isn't an isolated thing, quite a few people got a "You've got an mms" message for an sms sent ages ago

He told me it was an SMS, and he knows it was an SMS cos he sent it to multiple people and they all got it back then in April.

Oh ok. Perhaps PM Vodacom your number, date, time and number the SMS was sent from. Maybe he can trace it and see where it got stuck? Just a idea.

Same here. Received an MMS from ABSA today to advise of a cheque deposit correction. I doubt ABSA would have sent it as an MMS. It shows as being sent in June 2011 for a transaction which occurred in June 2011. Vodacom strikes again! This is clearly not isolated so Vodacom must surely be aware?

Hello guys. I will check again in the morning if VD have noticed this thread...if not, I will email him the link. Perhaps he can look into this some more. I suggest you guys keep the dates and time's of these "MMS" messages handy as he will most like need it to trace it on the system and see what happened.

Mine arrived in my gmail box last night

The URL title says "MMS Legacy"

lol, someone I sent a sms to got an email about "mms" from me from August.

Got the same thing yesterday, "You have an MMS message!" The message was sent in July.

Sent from my Desire HD using MyBroadband Android App

Hi Guys

Certain smart phones will send your sms as an mms if you send your sms with more than 160 characters. I can't be sure why it was received that late though.

Please send me cell numbers so i can investigate.

Regards

VD

VD: this message was this long:
**** ***********

There is no reason this would or should've gone as an MMS - nor delayed that much not that it really bothers me,I phoned when the sms didnt arrive back then

I just got another one.

From the same person, and its about 4 - 6 months old.

Fail Voda. Fail.
