Skyrim

Ok. It took a while but I've got the new version of skyrim alchemy pocket book working. You can now select which ingredients you have in your inventory and it will show you all possible effects including potions with 3 effects.

There still might be some bugs so if you use it and experience something wrong please let me know.

I'm thinking of first presenting the user with a list of all the effects and then he/she can choose which one they interested in?

Seeing that is on a file share service, I'm not breaking any copyright laws when I click download, am I :)

Ooh on quick glance the 3rd option is exactly what I thought about.... and oops I forgot about the icons will sort that out tonight.

Lol no. Not with me anyway :p

I just need to find out if using the pics from wikia.com is considered copyright theft  anyone know?

Hey guys. I stopped playing skyrim a while back and started again the other day.

Possible Spoiler Warning :

I am now at the point where i have recruited 3 people to the knives, and am supposed to speak to Esbern to go dragon hunting, but i cannot seem to get any option about that. All he says is he is hard of hearing and im not supposed to still be here etc etc.

From what I could find, people said this was fixed in an update, yet clearly that hasnt worked for me.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Wow. Just a small warning to those who are looking to buy and install Skyrim for the 1st time. The steam patches and updates up to v1.4 came to about 1.3GB for me right now. (I uninstalled the game about a month ago and reinstalled it now) So make sure you have data before installing.

can someone tell me how to manage the updates in steam??

I know it usually does the updates itself, but I had the option to NOT automatically update Skyrim. Next thing my steam is downloading a 150mb update (no doubt to 1.4) as Im currently running 1.3.x.

So it downloaded it, but if I wanna install it, how do I go about that?

I tried changing the option in steak to auto update the game, and restarted my PC... (and therefore Steam) and no joy. Still 1.3.x

any ideas??

cheers

all you need to do is install everything (including hi res pack) and then copy your entire skyrim folder accross.

right click and validate local files (something along those lines) and bobs your uncle

:)

So how much of a performance hit is the new texture pack?

no idea. I got someone to turn my PC on this morning so hopefully its busy downloading as we speak...

I cant see how it can impact performance that much more than the HD texture pack that is already available on skyrm nexus?

If you want the game to look even better and can take the hit in performance then

uGridsToLoad=5 - This variable does not exist and need to be added to bottom of the [General] section of the Skyrim.ini file to be implemented. It controls the radius around the character within which the engine loads up the most detailed objects, characters and terrain. It can have a substantial impact on both image quality and performance. Any value assigned to this variable needs to be in odd increments, e.g. 3, 5, 7, 9, 11. The screenshot comparisons above demonstrate the way in which there is progressively higher detail in the distance as the value of this variable is raised (a better example showing uGridsToLoad=7, the most stable value, can be seen here).

after I added this ( I think I used 5 or 7) and I noticed my GPU usage when from average mid 70% to low 90%

eina! :( worth the eye candy though! :)

I hope now the modders can find a way to bring us Co-op, now that would totally rock.

Hmmm 3 gig, guess I have to introduce my PC to someones uncapped dsl line.

Did not notice too much of a preformance hit, but then i think it also largly depends on the spec of your pc

How about Skyrim online then ? - www.skyrim-online.com

Here it is on Nexus - http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/downloads/file.php?id=3592

I tried it out but its very laggy and extremely buggy.. Still in its alpha stage... Hopefully they will get it to work well soon enough.

It is exactly what I was talking about, last update I had was the developer was waiting for the creators kit that just got released. Hopefully he got what he was looking for.

Edit: as mentioned on the landing page :)

Bethesda has finally released the creation kit tools for Skyrim! For those of you wondering what those are and what they mean for Skyrim Online, here's the jist of it.

The creation kit is a set of development tools that can be used to easily create mods for the PC version of Skyrim. It's free to download for all Steam users. (This also means if you have a "cracked" copy of the game, you will have to BUY the game to use these tools).

"Mod-makers have a long history with Bethesda Game Studios, bringing to life new quests, locations and characters, as well as making changes to game from subtle tweaks to full-blown overhauls," said level designer Joel Burgess. "With the Creation Kit, the same tool we used to create Skyrim, there's almost no limit to what can be accomplished and we're putting that power in your hands."

In correlation to Skyrim Online, these tools will help boost content development, and really give us much more of the power we need to bring you a multiplayer experience we can all be proud of.
