Skyworth Binge TV Android media box - Tips/Tricks/Apps thread

Currently 899 @ Takealot, kak price. Glad I decided to go with the Mi box instead.
 
Hi,

So i bought the Skyworth Binge TV device and was able to configure the custom applications i wanted on it using my Dell PC Monitor (Dell SE2416H 23.8" FHD LED Monitor) however when I plugged the device into my Samsung Tv I get the error "mode not supported".

Does anyone have a work around for this?

Maybe the screen resolution on the monitor was set at max (1080p) but the tv cannot handle it.
Try connecting the monitor and go in to settings and display settings and set the resolution to 720p (1280x720) and then reconnect the tv
 
Hi guys,

I installed the Netflix app from the playstore but Netflix says 'This app is not compatible with your device.'

Anybody got it to work?
 
The skyworth binge box is switching off & on by itself.

I have updated & factory reset.

Returning to Takealot & will get another Mi Box. Disappointed, i was routing for you Skyworth.

You mean rooting? You should leave the routing to the network interface on the box - that is probably why it reboots:p
 
I have tried every netflix apk I can find, and just CANNOT get it to work. The best response was app opening, all movies viewable, but clicking did not work on anything.Then also I was getting "not compatable -13",from another apk. The apk on help.netflix.com for incompatable versions also does not work. I wonder if it is because of oreo version 8. I even tried the firefox and chrome, and when selecting desktop page, both give the same streaming error, so, blocked, blocked, blocked. UPDATE: I finally found an apk that worked. from https://netflix.fileplanet.com/apk so, all is good now.

Make sure you choose the android version.

@xsel777 , did you update the app when prompted.
 
No, I did not update. I do not plan to ever update while it continues to work. Hopefully skyworth will get netflix certified, and this whole saga will be history.

Go to that link and the download button will be there in the middle of the page.
 
My Skyworth box also turns itself on and off. Not while watching something but at random when not in use. When I then notice it and switch TV source to the box its very laggy.

It seems to be happening more often now which is worrying.

I've noticed the same thing this week. It randomly turns on

Android will wake up the box from time to time to run updates, but it should not unblank the screen and it should not be laggy. We'll try reproduce this issue and establish what is happening.
