Fok thanks... I was about to drop R5k on the grey onesYou definitely want the white ones, they're the newer ones with Matter support.
Just got one of them to test yesterday, pretty happy with it so far. Does what it says on the box. Sits about 14mm proud of the wall so it's not flat but doesn't look bad.
I still prefer using bell press switches + Shelly relays but that becomes problematic if you want to do anything more than 2 gang switches and even 2 gang becomes difficult to get everything in the wall box.
So I think the Sonoffs are probably the next best thing and they're relative cheap compared to other solutions.
This is where I got mine: https://muthersa.co.za/product/sonoff-m5-3ch-matter-smart-wall-switch/
Yes, it needs a neutral. The Shelly relays also need neutral except for the Shelly Dimmer 2 which can work without a neutral.
I know these are the touch versions and not buttons, but I'm pretty happy with them. Did have to print a surround for them, as they are bit small for the existing holes in my wall.Bugger! They won't work me with our current light wiring which has no neutral's at the switches.

I don't think so.Thank you! Do the M5 have dimming capabilities?
Thanks, you use them with Home Assistant?
I have about 10 of these working in HA no problems.
Are they Tuya-based?I have about 10 of these working in HA no problems.
Are they Tuya-based?
Not sure, I added them to eWelink and with the eWelink / HA integration they automatically show up. Didn't have to flash and whatnot.
Yes.Thanks, you use them with Home Assistant?
Yes, the one's I mentioned previously from Qualitel are Tuya based so are the CBI units. Are they Tuya-based?
From my understanding the white ones are matter based so no need to flash, just pair them into home assistant for full local control.I'm seeing indications that the new white Sonoff M5 can't be flashed
I've tried flashing it and I get an error: ESP Chip Auto-Detection Failed
I saw someone mentioned something about some security efuse which prevents flashing
Going to give that a go today, if I haven't bricked my new switch messing with itFrom my understanding the white ones are matter based so no need to flash, just pair them into home assistant for full local control.
Done and sorted! From my understanding the white ones are matter based so no need to flash, just pair them into home assistant for full local control.
I use the Aqara Single Switch Module T1 (No Neutral). This device sits behind your light switch and allows you to use your regular light switches to operate the lights as usual, while also enabling smart control.Hi guys, I am looking to change all my light switches to smart ones. Do you have any recommendations for smart light switches that are not the touch ones? I just think those will annoy me and I would prefer regular clickable switches. Also helps with spouse approval. Please help. Thanks.
Done and sorted!
Had to install the Matter server on another docker instance, but it's all connected and working well
Only pain is that I can't get matter devices to talk across my vlan's, so I can't put it on my IoT vlan
