Smart light switches

You sure about those broadlinks not requiring a cap?

*edit* I see it really doesn't but the cost is quite high from Amazon and I see ubay has it but a 2 gang is R600. For multiple switches, cheaper to have a sparky draw wire to all points once off I think.
Yep see below diagram.

Adaptor plate for smart light switches, US to ZA, Black

A picture of them installed would be appreciated if you've bough from the seller?

My switches all fine so no real need. But see descriptions below:

"Standard dimension" is identical in size to the normal traditional SA light switch cover plates.

"Oversize dimension" is approximately 5mm wider on all 4 sides than the standard dimension to assist with covering of any imperfections of the wall.

I bought them for my place from that company. He is really helpful as well. This helped because I could see small chips on the wall when coming close to the light switch before installing this. This wasn't a problem when the normal RSA light switch was installed cause it was covered by the plate.

Any idea on ballpark costs to have a sparky come draw N wires?

Depends on number of points. They charge per point so normally best to do it as an extra while doing other work.

But you can negotiate.

Have you verified no neutrals, as newer houses may have it. Also is there space in your conduits for neutrals?

Yeah unfortunately it's very much a length of string question. Main cost is labor, depends on the number of light points ( I have 8) and depends on how they wired the house too. Founf some very dodgy wiring practices while upgrading my switches.

I'm leaving that until the time i install s inverter and battery system, want the house rewired then with seperate dbs and high/low circuits.

I checked one light switch, no neutral. No idea on conduit space. Place is 25+years old I think. Moving in month end.

If moving in, consider redoing wiring beforehand.

Also consider modernising ito DB and CB for future solar power.

Its a timing problem of only getting keys a day or two hopefully before move day

Can anyone recommend an electrician in the Randburg area to come look and draw neutral wires?

Hi guys

What would be the best option to make a 3 switch light switch smart. My preference would be to keep the existing switch and so initially was looking at the Sonoff Mini R2 but it seems you can only get connect a single switch to the Mini R2. I need to make a 2 switch light switch smart as well.

Just buy some switches.

You get 3 gang and 2 gang ones. Sonoff or Tuya. Neutral or no neutral etc.

Check out eiferer or others below.

Thanks, the reason I want to keep the standard switches is because the soft touch switch is going to irritate me having to look for he button and not be able to do it by feel to switch a light on by feel.

Hmm, yes the click switch ones bigger. I use a TreatLife 3 way one for my passage and enjoy the traditional click.

But for others I use Google Home voice control and Google Home app on phone. Have google mini speakers, hub and the older Home Hub speakers around the house.

But can use your phone as well for voice control.
