Smart light switches

If you switch to Home Assistant, doesnt matter which brand you use?

HA too much effort for me currently BUT if you have time, its the best solution.

That’s pretty much the main reason to go HA. It makes your integrations brand agnostic. Even if you use nothing else in HA, this capability makes it worth the effort.

cool, got some, but ugh, need an electrician now, i dont have the motivation, nor the will to climb into my roof to bring down neutrals for the light switches

Must be some looking for long weekend party money?

Try AHA Power Solutions in that general area or I know another guy but he isn't a real electrician certified but has a lot of knowledge and experience

Must say im not a fan of the smart switches. The touch plates just suck. My son struggles to switch them.

If anyone knows of smart switches with actual buttons or switches that work with smart life, please link them

Got a guy I was at school with who runs an electrical / wiring place , will see what he quotes :)

Thus far, I’ve done a few lamps, and my inner nerd is pleased

I want to do my garage doors and gate motor as well,

Got this little guy, not sure if it’s the right one for the job

I have never used that one for a garage door, I generally use an SV, make it isolated but feed its power off the 12v of the motor, this one, even if you can isolate it, will have an issue in that you would need to give it a seperate power source.

the SV also has GPIO pins you can use a reed switch on to see if the door is closed or not.

I want to put shelly relays or sonoff minis but most of switches are 2 gang and some 3. Only 2 switches are 1 gang.

2 or 3 of the relays wont go into the switch box. I cant put the relays in the roof (downstairs, so no roof. I think the conduits go in the slab all the way to the DB? Just a wild guess)

What other options are available for keeping physical switches and having 2 or 3 gang?

I'm not sure if I would like the touch panel switches

See response from @Tinuva

I think @Dolby might also be able to advise.

I have installed Qualitel 2 and 3 gangs.

Now have only a few funny 1 gang switches left to pull neutrals to. Will probably use shelly 1Ls for those.

Really annoyed with these tuya smart life wall switches. Installed 2 of them incl capacitors.

Works well. Then from nowhere it will switch on. And then later off again. And to switch them on and off is a real pain, just not a good experience

Feel like they need to be returned

Hmm ... my tuya switches work.

@Mzezman has ones that work without issue.

Something in the wires? Otherwise faulty switches.

See similar issue pointing to faulty switches.

Mine us3d to do this but it was b3cause of dosgy formware and incorrectly installed capacitors. If you can, try reinstall the capacitor or change where its installed and see if there are firmware upgrades

Nope. But only one not certified.

I mentioned it.

No certified option for 3 way switches. Unless I use a Shelly relay. But then doubt the physical switch will operate as a 3 way switch? Not sure.
See also Martin Jerry 3 way switches on Amazon. But USA so not certified either.

Think I'll put up my TreatLife switches for sale. Still have 3 left in their box still.

Why you selling the treatlife ones? @Saba'a

Its working perfectly since late 2020 but the specs state its 120V whereas SA is 240V. In real life practice, no issues. Have 3 lights connected to the 3 way switch in passage.

I also bought a 4 pack (thinking I needed 2 per 3 way lights) and only using the one because one only needs to change one of the 2 switches for the 3 way lights (so 3 switches left over with no other use).

I love the tactile on off switch but its not certified.

Thinking of putting in a Shelly to use with normal switch as Shellys are certified for use in SA (IF bought via Nology's distributors).
