Smart light switches

Pulled neutrals to all my funny switches.

I counted 10 of them. Although 2 switches in flatlet and one should just be blanked/switched off.

So really 7.

Now to see if Jerry Smart switches fit.

PS electricians assistants managed to disconnect neutrals to ALL switches in my bedroom. But he'll come fix it tomorrow morning.

Luckily rest of house unaffected and only light switches, not the power plugs in main bedroom!
Why didn't you use sonoff?

Any update? How did it go?
I've been using a Sonoff inching switch for my garage and driveway motor for a few years now. Very easy to install. Only the the driveway gate motor one died after about 2.5 years. The garage one is still going strong. I use Alexa to open/close them. Very convenient.

I prefer the Tuya Smart Life switches as I am in the ecosystem for smart automations.

Shellys were my preference and I may still go that route as I prefer licensed/certified switches.

Will try out the 4 switches for now. The funny switches look terrible and a mish mash of styles.

Ewelink with HA?

HA too complex for me.

I'll check it out eventually once Rpi prices improved.

Downloaded the software to create a VM on an old notebook. Just haven't gotten around to it.

BUT Sonoff would not be my choice. Rather Shelly as Sonoffs not certified for SA.

I try to stick to certified where possible. Problem is for toilet I have a Tuya motion detector so then automation would not work UNLESS I use HA, if I use Shelly.

So for now, Jerry Smart switches.

Honest question. Why are you so obsessed with certified devices.

The mechanical crap i took out to replace with TreatLife definitely dont strike me as anything which was certified in any way.

Put in what you want

Peace of mind, I guess

You're connecting devices direct to your mains and good to know that if something fails or burns, you'd be covered by insurance

Insurance. So the Treatlife 3 way switch because only 3 way switch (edit 3 way smart switch) I could find.

Funny switches. Once HA up I can use Shellys but for now only option is the Jerry Smart switches. No Tuya options that I can find equivalent to Sonoffs or Shellys.

That would be my preference. Tuya devices I could insert into these old switches.

Once HA up - but doubt anytime soon, I'll then opt for Shellys.

Edit:

Thinking about it. I think I'll go for the Shellys and simply replace the door motion sensor with a Shelly.

Requested cancellation of order. Hope it can be cancelled :-)

@Dolby

Which Shellys would you recommend for light switches?

I don't need power monitoring and they need to fit into a small space. Neutrals present.

@Tinuva

I remember advised on how to use/connect one (or was it a sonoff) for 3 way switches with neutral.

@Enzo Matrix thanks for reminding about importance of certified devices. Thought of shiny consistent looking switches made me forget about/ignore insurance risk issue.

Dimensions of replacement switch that I had wanted to fit in:

1.08 inches = 2,743 centimetres depth
4.13 inches = 10,49 cm height length
1.42 inches = 3,607 centimetres width

3.80 inches = 9,652 centimetres between holes

Seems like Shelly 1 fine for the job?

Try to have a select few dimmers.

For us, lounge plus 2 bed rooms have dimmers as a must. It is nice in kitchen since it is open plan. Braai room also have for the projector. Rest of house is normal light switches.

Pondering using the shelly switches with current Qualitel smart life/Tuya bulbs.

Shellys are:
1. Certified for SA use
2. Local control without tasmotizing or any flashing or soldering.

Surely thus better option?

Shelly 1 is perfect for a single relay .

I really enjoy using my old switch and having a tactile button though, and the fact that I can use any switch I want

Anybody know where I can get switch covers for below:

Car remote for size comparison.

Anybody able to recommend fastest motion detector? To link to light.

Preferably Smartlife Tuya one. I have a Connex but too long a lag/delay for me.
