Smartphone data usage in SA revealed

Vodacom said they're seeing average data usage of around 42MB of data per user per month,

i.e. so the bulk of people using the R65pm BIS service are not getting what they pay for?

I use about 180mb of my R250MB bundle a month on my Android.

I do about 30mb. I use Opera and I disable images.
Why do we pay so much for DATA?

This is nonsense. The reason for the usage is because nobody dares go over their cap.

5 gig and sitting at a coffee shop waiting for cap to reset...

I monitor my cap religiously. Just not worth blowing the limit with data so exorbitantly priced.

"With the popularity of BlackBerry in South Africa, which offers subscribers unmetered non-streaming data when accessing the Internet from a BlackBerry device, one expects that data usage on..."

If files get too large it's metered, even if it is non-streaming. Only typical normal browsing and mails are for free using a blackberry, if you download mp3s or if you receive e-mail attachments larger than 3MB(not sure what the limit is) you pay for the data.

Android
100MB of MTN 3G
400MB of WiFi - free
I use WiFi at work / home to reduce the 3G usage.
The costs of 3G are just too high.

I spend more on Data than Voice!
Thinking of changing to Cell-C 2GB Bundle (R84/pm) and adding PAYG for Voice.

Android
~250MB MTN 3G
I don't know how much I use wifi. If I could convert my anytime package to data I would just love that.

Let me get this straight, people still use networks for data?
What's the matter, too dumb to setup wifi?
