WTF, thank Apple for what? Bringing nothing new in a shiny box/tin. iPhone, a step back in time wow, cut and paste:

If the author had actualy done some research I would not be posting. Apple does do one thing well, packaging and marketing. They make their product very intuitive (a great thing) so that you only need one brain cell to operate it (so do not want to be in the target market for their products). Credit them for what they have done well, not for a technology marvel.
Wow, such anger. Now sit down, take a breath, and atleast consider another point of view. (don’t have to agree, just consider).
To create a market, does not imply you created the actual technology. Schweppes is older than Coke, but Coke got people buying soda in the local corner shop.
Although there are many patents belonging to Apple, the whole patent war is based on the fact that Apple stole/acquired/borrowed or whatever, some other companies technology. So 10 points to you for pointing that out.
Having said that, the mainstream market was created by Apple. Yes, I know there was a market for Smartphones, but it was to a large degree limited to technophiles. Think about Apple and Microsoft, and how the computer changed from what a “geek” played with, to something even a hillbilly can run and operate.
Smartphones are, thanks to apple, more accessible, and useable for the average idiot on the street. They did this by bringing together technology, whether theirs or someone else’s, and presenting it in a usable, ‘cool’ design. If anything, Steve sure knows how to market a product.
On the subject of incomplete capabilities (multitasking), consider this.
A geek and an idiot sit down, and their phones are running slightly slow, or the battery is dying out early, and what is their response?
Geek - “Wow, look how great me and my phone are. We managed to have x number of processes running simultaneously, and using Y amount of battery power in Z amount of time”
Idiot - “Ahh, why is this thing running so slow? And the battery on my old Nokia 3210 lasted 5 days” This thing is useless”
If you want to market to the idiot’s, you must bring user experience on par with what they are used to, on old technology. You slowly educate them then, to the additional features available on their upgrade to smartphonedom, while retaining the same or better user experience. Something the old Smartphones did not do. Upgrading to a smartphone was too high a learning curve for many idiots, but not anymore. Thanks to Apple.
