Anyone have any suggestions as to a decent piece of software to use as a repository? Have an obscene number of snippets in various languages I need to store and sort.

Preferably open source ones if possible.

Well, what should the software do? IMHO it should be pretty easy storing it in just about any type of DB. All you need to store is:
- Language
- Description
- Snippet

You should be able to search through them quickly as well...

Would be nice if it had a visual front end with a sort of tree view where you can add branches for each language and sub levels for categories. Search functionality is a must as well.

Was thinking that If I cant find one done already I might have to just write something but I just dont have the time to set up a whole db and write a frontend for it.

Take it as a challenge and try new things in developing it... There's nothing like DIY apps for managing your own world. :)

I know, intend writing one at some point, just seriously no time for it at the moment.

oh well. time to dig out the vs 2005 dvd, seem to remember it had a more or less decent code repository in it.

Wiki.

I use WikiDPad - it's standalone, and allows me to add snippets quickly. It sits on my USB drive, and works well.
