How can Vodacom get away with this! not everyone is downloading GBs of data everyday (as seen in other threads) why should the people who stay within normal download limits be punished with a useless "High speed" cap of 100mb? I love how the try and make it sound so epic and awesome by saying you can send over 12000 tweets, Im so fed up with Vodacom's service right now I think i just have to go to another network because I pay for service and reliability and with Vodacom i am NOT experiencing this

you are a dingle berry.....

who cares.. they still giving you uncapped, just a little slower, you not even going to notice.... so before having a fit... at least reach the 100mb limit and see if your life has ended or if you can still live...

All ISP's can do what they like, it's their bandwidth, if they want to turn around and tomorrow say no more BIS. You must buy data bundles... that's their business, they can run it how they want... if you want a say then start your own cellphone company.

So instead of hating on Voda... got out BBM the twits that find the loop holes and abuse the system, so that others have to suffer...

Personally think double that would be good before throttling.

just a little slower

Obviously someone lives under a rock... the speeds on a blackberry have been WAY more than "just a little slower" for sometime - PLEASE READ the threads (Not just this one) and get your facts straight before commenting.

Yep, here's a prime example. It's not like people couldn't see preventative measures like this coming.

get an iphone.. how much speed do you need to make a twitter post or facebook post.... your fingers can't even type fast enough.

maybe you should move country not just network....

FAIL on user experience

Dude, 100MB is pathetic and you know that. The main selling point behind getting a BB was because of unlimited bandwidth - which is still the case, but throttled. This is definitely a case of a few rotten apples spoiling the fun for everyone and I can almost guarantee that their usage was way more than 1GB. Most BB users use in excess of 100MB per month if you carefully think of it - FB takes more than 1MB on a PC, on my phone (not BB) its a little less, but you know what I mean.

This is robbery, and thank the gods I didnt get a BB

Well then vent your frustration at the few rotten apples. They've been abusing the product, and Vodacom is within their rights to set whatever usage limit they please, as it's their network and technically it's still uncapped. People are free to switch networks if this upsets them, but I doubt that the others are too far behind in implementing similar measures.

Then whats the point.... why does blackberry BIS still exist, why don't they just pack it in?

Because there's obviously still a big market for it. Not everything revolves around being able to download the internet :)

True but u got a 3G device for a reason, you want to post you facebook updates or whatever without having to wait.
It is like buying a car and then being told a few months later that if you drive more than 100 kms a month , they are going to reduce te power and speed ,but you will still be able to drive.

this is k@k funny. Ive heard all the BB users go on and on and on and on about how BIS is the selling point for Blackberry and now you screwed :p

If you can use your phone like normal and not hit 100MB then no harm done. For the people who sit on youtube and facebook all day long following like a million ppl on facebook... Your 100MB wont be enough. Then you will be throttled and your 3G will be useless, back to BB 8520 speends... like pulling teeth.

No better time to get an iPhone now lol

I was wondering how long it would be before a car analogy was posted :D

3G will still be available, you just won't be able to use BIS for it after 100 MB.

Lol or any phone that doesn't belong in 2004.

SO if you want 3G then use the internet APN. So if you want to drive faster just drive another car and not this one. Makes sense

I didn't realise that BIS came with two phones :D

No, if you want to drive faster, then you'll have to start paying for the fuel that you use. You've been getting unlimited fuel all this time, now you'll get 100L or whatever.

/end car analogy

Now that is crap argument.
Anyway gonna ditch my contract.

No. Buying a car is buying a once-off product. Buying BIS is subscribing to a continous service.

I agree with Mike Hoxbig here: Voda is entitled to take remedial action to counter heavy BB users especially if the user is impacting on the quality of service to other BB users.
