So I dinged a tazz

So last week Thursday I somehow dinged a stationary Tazz in the mall parking. So this is damage it caused

The grey bit is a bit of plastic from my bumper. So this guy calls me up in the weekend and asks for R1500 which seems a bit steep to me the damage to my car is nothing worth getting the insurance involved just a dent in the plastic bumper which I personally could pull out myself (I think).

What would be the appropriate amount to give this guy?

I imagine your excess for a claim would probably come close to R1500, and you might lose a no claim bonus (if you have one)

yeah frankly if they replaced the bumper and resprayed it professionally you would be looking 5-10k

the entire bumper would need to be resprayed, someone has to remove it, prep it, spray it and refit it

1500 is free getaway. pay it and get him to sign something saying he is happy and all is said and done

Don't forget that technically you still need to tell your insurance company about any accidents, even if you don't claim.

probably in the townships one could fix damage like that for R600
but again, its not something you can go to the insurance companies.

R1500 is cheap to repair the car....

BUT, be wary of just paying the money and walking away... you will start getting requests every few months for money, you will need the person to sign something stating the the R1500 is in full and final settlement for all damages caused by you to X vehicle on X date.
