It's well documented iOS is useless for bluetoothing media files to other devices, regardless of make or operating system. It's a copyright motivated decision.

Fortunately, there a dozen alternate ways of getting it done, some of them are even free...

That sounds like tinkering, I thought only android users tinker.

It's Cellc, I'm always having this issue with them. If my device displays a 3g symbol it doesn't load content, it has to show H+. Constantly alternates between the two.

Airdrop in iOS 8 and OSX 10.10 uses bluetooth to initiate the wifi transfer.

TBH that's the only ecosystem that interests me - then again I've never felt the overwhelming desire to want to send someone a photo via bluetooth - something that seems to be of such massive importance to some.
 
I can understand the need for some to send photos between devices without using the internet and/or a pc/mac.

A photo was just an example, what about a song or video. If I had a premium smartphone that couldn't utilize something like Bluetooth I'd be laughed at.

I only do it to family members that want daughter photos (Android to anything but apple).
