I wish there was an option to get emailed statements.
Thats is the only thing I really want them to add.
2 interesting things I recently noticed:
*New CREDIT tab in the mobile App with a picture of cards on it (Credit Card coming finally?)
*You can't take a screengrab when inside the Capitec App due to DRM protection (I tried to to source the point above re CC)
Seems to me that the people who benefit most from Capitec accounts are those that spend little, are very, very concerned about banking fees, and have large amounts of money they want to keep in a current account instead of a higher-interest-earning non-current account. Quite a small target market, maybe.
Or just want no frills banking with decent service, unlike Standard Bank that can't send a SMS and just locks your account "because FICA", Capitec did send me a SMS about it when it was required.
Capitec now has more retail customers then Nedbank. Capitec is now on the JSE Top 40.
+1
last month I tried to move some funds from my sb account only to find out that electronic limit was reset to 0, so couldnt transfer anything.
Called them as it was after hours and was quite urgent but they couldnt help, said I had to go in to get it changed.
Tried a secure message on online banking hoping it would work, it did but only the next day and after lots of phone calls and messages to SB about how dissatisfied I am.
Then a day later get called by the fraud division who wants to verify my details - but I refuse to give my details over the phone.
The idiot threatens to cancel my card so i have to go into the bank and give them my details in person.
Gave him and his manager a mouthful. Not that it made any difference.
Beginning of July i get an sms from SB saying that my "EAP limit changed to R0"
Awesome![]()
I saw this weekend my limit is also R0 now. No SMS. Standard Bank might as well close that account since one can now buy airtime on Capitec internet banking.
People say Capitec is a "mickey mouse bank" or whatever, what's Standard Bank then? A goofy bank?
NO, there is a CREDIT tab and it most definitely has an image of cards on: View attachment 232990
I am moving soon...FNB is giving us one in the back.
Does a woolly pug hump your leg when you use your FNB card or internet banking? hehehe
They have fixed deposits for that.Seems to me that the people who benefit most from Capitec accounts are those that spend little, are very, very concerned about banking fees, and have large amounts of money they want to keep in a current account instead of a higher-interest-earning non-current account. Have any of you used the Capitec ATM to deposit money? Beginning of this month I had to depost R1500.00 and the person doing the deposit for me inside the branch asked me if I knew I could make deposits at the ATM outside? I told her I know that at other banks you can do it and as far as I know the only Capitec ATM accepting deposits is in Cape Town some where. She told me they upgraded this branch to take deposits also.
I have never deposited cash at a ATM. How does it work? Put in the account number and then you put the notes in one by one?
I haven't used a Capitec one for this, but have used ABSA and FNB many times. Walk up, choose CARDLESS SERVICES, enter account number, then it normally asks for reference and your phone number, then it opens a chute and you chuck your wad of cash into it.
It counts it and displays the amount. You confirm and it prints a confirmation slip.
Profit

Is it free? What's the incentive of using the ATM over going inside the branch?
