So I went to Capitec

This morning I logged on to my laptop to do some banking on Capitec, and needed to add a new beneficiary.

On my cellphone a message popped up saying something to the tune of "Have anybody from Capitec phoned you to create a beneficiary?" with Yes and No as selection.

Choosing Yes aborts adding the beneficiary. Choosing No adds the beneficiary.

So, reading between the lines, it seemed as if somebody presented themselves as Capitec and phoned some Capitec clients instructing them to add beneficiaries... in order to commit fraud that way.

Or am I wrong?
Probably. I haven't seen anything like that.

I actually added a new beneficiary yesterday on my Capitec app but that was on my cellphone. Didn't see any messages as you described. Process was as normal.

FNB building a brilliant case as to why I'll never move from Capitec.

Don’t see FNB being all that. I was with Capitec since 2006 and then closed the account last year moving my banking to BankZero and Tymebank. Not into paying bank charges….essentially banking should be free for the man on the street.

Damn account fee going up by R1.50 and credit card going up by R5. Payment to another bank also going up by 0.50c. Crazy with all the free banks around they jack up prices. https://www.capitecbank.co.za/global-one/transact/fees/
Vote with your feet........I was with Capitec since I got back from the UK as most bank charges there are free. I loved them and promoted them everywhere, but then Tymebank and BankZero came around and I ditched them......free banking is the way to go......make the move.

Their new rewards program looks to be quite decent with 1.5% back on the Credit card spend.
Spend a R1000 and you get R15 while paying over R45 a month on the card….so you need to spend R3000 at least just to break even.

Spend R10000 for R105 profit a month….get more doing the same through clicks club card
Correct me if I'm wrong but you only get rewards from spending at clicks in that scenario, right?

This is anywhere, and you could even spend your 10k at clicks and pay using your Capitec and get that R105 profit too..

Wrong, I pay any easypay linked account and get R2 back for every transaction. Buy all my electricity via that and get R2 for each transaction. Buy R20 electricity and get R2 back.

In a month already on R150 with no bank fees.
