about 8 months since their major outage:

Rogue database felled Capitec in its worst-ever IT outage

As IT systems outages go, this one was doozy. Capitec went offline for almost two days last week, infuriating its customers.

think there was another smaller one more recently than that, last night seemed benign in comparison, couldn't log in to the app, but I could still approve online payments in the app and I'm sure POS and ATM worked

still, it's a bank, it's expected to do better ... heads rolled for that August snafu, someone's sure to get a stern talking to today at the very least

Was at the mall Sunday afternoon and the Standard Bank ATM had a longer queue (double) than the Capitec one...

Are the people who comment about Capitec queues (as a reason not to use Capitec supposedly) and use Standard Bank going to leave Standard Bank now?

There really is no need for it. Besides the hassle it’s also just a security risk to everyone.

i understand things like taxi/bus fee's but to draw 1000s at a atm and walk around with cash burning a hole in your pocket, no ways, besides wasting money, (like walking past a stall and buying chips/cooldrink) its just dangerous, i dont even have a wallet anymore and im okay with it

mine didn't disappear, but it is flaky AF

often doesn't log in successfully, or load the homepage or randomly when clicking around in it just pukes out a "EasyEquities is currently unavailable" error

don't use it often so at least I don't have to deal with how error prone it is, but recently made a deposit and had to resort to the old school EFT method because the widget just wouldn't work

may your deity of choice shine upon you with excess mercy if you ever need to go into a SBSA branch ... I'd get banned for repeating the words that other customers ended up shouting at staff and the much worse words running through my head

Capitec branch visits are lightyears faster than SBSA branch visits in my experience, couldn't care less about ATMs, don't people know about cashback at the till?!?

new service provider doesnt do cards this year...and the laaitie decides on the day what she smaaks...

barista? fokkit...laaitie isnt even allowed coffee yet...

we have the karri app that caters for everything else...
