Hey there chaps...

This isn't the first time that this has happened to me.

Once I update all my software and the necessary ones need to restart my MAC 'freezes' at the configuration screen.

i.e: The bar will just stop at Configuring 1 of 4 updates, and just sit there for like 6+ hours (left it over night once)....

I really am sure that it doesn't need longer than that to configure, no?

I'm on 10.5.2 btw...

Wow, that sucks man. Have you tried Apple forums?

Balls for that, those guys are useless! I was hoping someone here can sort me out.

My m8 that bought the MBP together with me had the exact same problem.

He re-installed Leopard and is sweet now.

Is there a way that I can re-install Leopard without formatting the drive?? Haven't bothered learning how to use Time Machine yet...

Some guys had bluetooth issues.

Now it's new thing is to hang during the Configuration stage.

So many people have been having this problem with Leopard, yet no one has a fix for it!

I even tried download an update manually from apple.com, and it even does the same problem! - Hangs on the Configuration stage!!!!!

:(

Yeah, there's a few bugs they haven't gotten around to fixing :(

You probably have tried a permissions fix on the disk???

I had a small problem in that my iMac would not shut down but a permissions fix sorted it out - it was also due to an app that had not been updated to Leopard compatibility.

Always repair the disk permissions before any updates.
Try going into single user mode and doing "fsck -fy" to re-org your drive.

Tried that - didn't work.

Will just use Disk Utility and Repair Permissions.

adsl3g - What permissions did you do to yours?

I just let it check and repair the file permissions - nothing to set. I have found that this fixes a lot of 'funnies'.

Still no good news after the repair :( It certainly fixed a number of errors but not my hanging of the configuration process.

I read on another int forum that one dude installed this and it worked for him.

So the download finished over night and is busy installing now...

If fsck did nothing from SUM then Disk Utility will do even less I'm afraid.

Bugger!

I guess I should just stop wasting yours and my time, and simply just install a fresh copy of Leopard.

One question: The fact that I have Time Machine running, does this mean that it could restore my 'system' folders, and then leave me with the same problem?

Can I choose whether or not to select just my Movies, Pictures, Documents ONLY, as a restore then just keep my fresh system folders as they are?
