Sonic Wireless

Got hold of support. They are looking into it now. You guys must let me know if your connection bombs out when mine is fixed. If it gets fixed that is

Out of interest which hi-sites are you guys connecting to?

I'm looking at moving over to them from another wireless provider and the signal strength by me is -40dbi to the New Horizon hi-site.

What's the latest from Sonic Wireless? Does their 10/20mbps packages work well? Or are there still people experiencing problems?

I've had both and the 10mbps seems to be more stable than the 20mbps.
On 10 I constantly got 10, on the 20 it fluctuates a little. Usually between 14-18mbps.

I am still on the 20mbps package and I must be honest I am happy.

Well it seems my connection is now fixed, been stable since yesterday morning after i threw my toys at the support guy on the phone.....

We've got the cambium kit installed at our house. Had some problems at first (with static routes for Unotelly) but it has been sorted. We're on the 10mb package and the downlink is fairly stable, lately.

What is your signal strength like? They did a site survey and got -40dbi and want to go for the 20Mbps package.

With my current provider I'm sitting at -60dbi on a 8Mbps package.

Touch wood, mine has been stable for a good couple days now.
Still terrible during the day when it comes to streaming, but web browsing is not too bad.

Hello everyone,

I have been quite interested in Sonic Wireless, and it has been interesting to see over these 15 pages how happy, then unhappy and now cautiously satisfied some of you have been. I was an early adopter on Neotel Neoflex and that was quite a painful experience which has left me shy of alternative providers. However, being Table View there are not too many options (at least that I am aware of.)

Could I trouble you for a spot of advice? I am interested in the 20MB/s service, but in terms of typical international bandwidth available, is it worth going for that package over the 10?

Also a little troubling to see that streaming is not good. I would expect on 20MB/s you should be able to stream quite nicely.

Thanks a lot.

I'm also in Table View. I'm currently with one of their resellers connecting to the tower on Durbanville hills on a 8Mbps package. I had a tower side dish as well but due to various BS stories about why my dish can't be moved I'm going directly to Sonic now. They did a site survey and I got -40dbi to the New Horizon hi-site. Currently I get -60dbi.

I assume you're also outside of the fibre coverage area?

Streaming HD trailers via my Apple TV has been decent.
