Sony Ericsson P990i

Hi Aqualung

You've been quiet. I think I might have some news for you!

Check out:

http://my-symbian.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=296056#296056

It says the following:

from Mate (my-symbian):
WORKING iSync plugin with latest P990i firmware (R6D23) from:
http://fornax.sk/mate/Download/P990i_iSync_1.06/SonyEricsson_P990i_isync_plugin_v1_06.dmg

It is based on official (unpublished) P1i iSync plugin and contains only simple modifications (by me).

You can download also the P1 iSync plugin from:
http://fornax.sk/mate/Download/P1i_iSync_1.06/SonyEricsson_P1i_isync_plugin_v1_06.dmg

I think with simple modifications it will work with M600i and also W950i but I can't test them /I have only P990i/.

Tested with Apple iSync 2.4 (501.2)

Enjoy ;)

Let us know if it worked.
Cheers

Good question. I'll ask the guys on other forums.

Ps. got your Holux yet?

Don't know about itunes, but have you tried Winamp, it has great sync capabilities with your memory stick (either directly in a slot or USB file mode on your phone). It can convert most files (even flac) to several different formats, including eAAC at 64kbps (which actually sounds quite good). It will sync random songs or only new songs, et cetera. It's the kind of program Disc2Phone should be, only there are limitations on MP3 format unless you buy the full version.

I didn't know this.. thanks for the tip!

No Not yet and i am bleak about it. have sent the vendor a couple of emails. The items is not apparently with the local customs guys, its not in SA and i not sure it has even left the States. Not happy but will give the vendor 24 hours to respond.

I'm using one of those Navicore bluetooth GPS receivers (those small ones) with TomTom6 on my P990, and it worx great. I ordered the GPS receiver from ebay.co.uk (paid about R400) and had it delivered to my friend in the UK, and then he send it to me by mail.

Most of the times it locks with 8 to 10 satellites, so it's quite accurate! however, it takes a bit long (4-5 mins) to pick up a signal when you do a cold start.

Can you access your contacts in a backup without PC Suite ?

Hi,

The P990i of a colleague of mine has been sent in for repair and he is without his phone & contacts.

He does however have backups on his PC.

Does anyone know how he might access the contacts without the phone being plugged in ?

I have tried opening them with zip decompression and I see lots of files inside but they ask for a password to unpack.

Come on ... we need a challenge ... :)

Thanks,

J.

Forgive me if this is n00b stuff...

I can't seem to manage my contacts on my P990i from my PC. On my N70, I can access all my contacts and various fields for those contacts and edit them on my PC using the PC Suite software. Is it possibe to do this on the SE?? I've dwnlded the latest SE PC Suite software and cannot find it there  It'll be a real pity if one can't do this ...

I posted the same question a couple of pages back. My wife's old Samsung crappy phone can do it. But I also couldn't find it on our PC suite. The thing is when you update or sync your pc with your phone, You will have three Paul Smiths one with his email one office phone number and the other cell. WTF!! I also thought it would be nice to cut and past (edit) contacts on my phone from my Laptop.

Yep, the SE P990i's contacts manager is not the best one in the world... even if you have Microsoft Outlook 2007, it still doesn't work properly. I think my P910i's contacts manager was better... :p

Sony Ericsson K800i

We have K800i with 3G MTN sim. Using it as a modem for connecting to the internet. Using Skype to speak to friends in the UK, want to also connect webcam, but we are not getting any good connection speed. The phone is connected to our laptop via USB cable to a USB 2.0. We dial *99# when dialling up to the MTN Data service. What are we doing wrong?

If you are not getting good connect speeds, it simply means that you're not close enough to a MTN 3G tower. You can get an external antennae to improve your signal, but it's not guaranteed. I used to have MTN 3G, reception was not good - and then I discovered that the Vodacom 3G tower is just across the road from our complex.

Now I get full HSDPA reception with Vodacom. :)

Good Connect Speed

We do have a tower very close to us, probably 2 km's away. What else could it be? Could my phone perhaps not be configured correctly?

2 kms? That's far. My tower is like 50 meters from my house.

Here where I live still no MTN 3G:confused: I have a smart phone that I can not use to It's fullest potential:mad:

Sadly I won't be useful in this forum anymore, my precious baby along with it's 1gig memory stick has been stolen :(

It sucks because I removed the flap, and whoever stole it took up to an hour to figure out how to turn the phone off - what are they gonna do with it when they have no idea how the bloody thing works even. It saddens me greatly, and unfortunately I wasn't allowed to insure it - so I wave thee faithful P990i owners farewell - until at least I manage to get something else.

PS: If anyone knows of someone selling either a P990i or a W950i at a very good price - plz send me a msg!
