Aqualung!! You're back! I was worried sick.... :sick:

Ok, curiosity killed the cat again + I have too much bandwidth left on my Vodacom HSDPA prepaid - yes, I installed the update. :)

So far, everything looks the same, but it does feel if the OS if a bit faster - but I guess we say that with every firmware update. :p

Only nice thing that I've noticed so far, is the camera app showing you your current settings at bottom of screen, eg. picture size, storage medium, etc. Nice. (My apologies if it did show it before, I've never noticed!)
 
I did a backup of my P990i today and after it restarted, I checked the available memory - 16.3MB!!

Not too shabby & it would seem the memory management is a leetle bit better with R6 firmware.

Just upgraded my firmware this afternoon. All seems fine so far. Hope it works well.
 
Something I must admit, the SE PC Suite is really good!

I did a backup of my P990i before I performed the firmware update and did a restore after the update - it works perfectly.

Still want to get a 8GB memory stick duo + Walkman 'earbud' earphones for my phone... ;)
 
I'm content with the latest FW update, and the PC Suite is not perfect, but predictable and stable. Also did a successful backup and restore (excluding 3rd Party apps). That I will always uninstall and reinstall during an upgrade.

Finally I can focus on other important things in life other than my woes with my P990 FW. :)
 
gosh... ive got latest firmware, and everytime i download an app and try install it i get weird errors about .... certificate has expired..... or something like that, i open details and i see the certificate expires in 2017......??? and yes the date is correct on my phone :)

it has happened with fring, and now with the new handango phone software.....

any ideas?

SE has changed the certificate permissions with the latest firmware update - again. Not even Swiss Manager would work on my P990i.
 
Yep Fring working on my p990

Got the latest firmware and fring is working on it. I'm on vodacom. Haven't checked the cost - don't have enough friends on fring yet.
 
do you have vodacom branding? if you do you dont have the "latest" firmware... even tho you upgrade on SEUS.
 
Firmware Version

I had vodacom remove the terrible vodafone firmware 6 months ago and they put on generic world 2 which I have updated on SEUS to:
Phone:R9GA001
Bluetooth: R5A01
Org: R6E28
CDA R6E28
 
HEeEeEeY guys!!! I may be back fairly soon! Although not with a P990i, I am taking a walk over with the W950i - will be interesting to compare my experiences, so hope to see you soon - before the end of the weekend if things go my way :)

update from me ....

latest firmware on my 990 is awesome. i have NO complaints. absalutely nothing i long for in my phone now (other than a bit of speed when opening sms's)

fring operating perfectly... all my staff on p990s and fring... and abusing the system :)

im+ is still a better google talk application, but cost 20 euros (well worth it)

gmail on the p990 also awesome... pity i cant download attachments tho.. spose i could turn my gmail into pop3 and use it with the blackberry on my p990 which also works great by the way.

Yeah, I haven't had any restarts with the new firmware yet & the OS feels solid. :)

*I do switch the phone off & clean the screen every week, maybe it helps?
