I GOT MY PHONE AT LAST !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey guys, i have been so envious about all of you getting your phones i sommer didnt post any further.
But.
This morning i got a call from the courier company to say that they have a delivery for me :D

So right now its on charge, still have about 2 of the initial 4hr charge to go, then i can start playing !!!

I am so happy right now :D :D :D

How long did it take for delivery once you had paid etc? Still waiting for mine...:(
 
I charged my phone for 4 hrs.
Put in the simcard
And the phone replies - invalid sim
Also tried my wives sim, same story....

Im on Vodacom.
I am fuming, about to throw this R8k piece of **** through the window.
After waiting for 6 months, i get a bloody faulty phone. WTF
 
That is a bit of sh** one rellik! I believe you can update on seus now for a updated Vodafone firmware version... Have you tried that? Just a thought... Maybe it will kick something into gear.
 
rellik, that sounds so frustrating !

I know there was some issue with the vodacom software and SIM readers a few months back...thought that was resolved.

Did you buy the phone , or get it through a contract upgrade ?

P.S I think a readbale SIM needs to be in the phone for SEUS to work ...

i got it through contract upgrade. But im starting to wonder if Nashua mobile or someone didnt screw up. When i start the phone, it shows the vodacom logo, but i dont see any vodafone live stickers on my phone or on startup.
Any chance i maybe got a MTN (locked) phone?
Im checking the Service menu and it shows the following
(locked) Network 5
(unlocked) Network subset 5
(unlocked) Service provider 5
(unlocked) SIM 5

Does anyone know what this means

the MTN phones are not locked to the network ( they are unlocked and unbranded ) I do not think that is an issue.
Sorry I do not know what those codes mean.
Post it up in the Vodacom forum ?

Does any documentation that came with your phone give the phone's firmware version ? ( it's stored on the phone as well, but you can't access that )

Ja and without working sim i cant get an update
Now im really screwed
The phone looks new and all, although im not 100% sure on the screen.
It has a very faint "ghost" image on startup, almost like a monitor thats burned in, but very faint,
I can only see it when the whole screen is blue.. so i dont know if its the background or and issue with the screen,
Anycase I thing theres issues on this phone and im probably sending it back. But i got it from Midrand :(
Im hoping nashua CT will sort it out for me

Yeah, that is going to be the best bet... To take it to them to re-flash. The weird thing is, that "invalid simcard" is normaly the message you would get on a phone that has been blocked/blacklisted. As I am sure this is not the case with your new phone, it might be a bugger up on vodacom's side.

rellik, can you post up those F/W figures? See my post above - there are 4 types for phone / bluetooth / organiser/CDA ( the two numbers you've shown, taken together, don't seem to correspond to any known F/W )

Well on a brighter side... What does the quality of the actual phone feel like? I am getting mine hopefully this week. MTN though. Changed from my 10 year Vodacom contract because of the Vodafone branding thing... O and better upgrade price.
 
I thought the quality felt quite fine, i've read some posts that ppl say it feels cheap etc. I dissagree, i love the look.
